Do anyone think that we are only to post a new reply every 30 seconds a little too long?
I find it long sometimes when you have multi-threads opened and trying to answer some questions, only to find out, you can only post every 30 seconds, and when you click back, all the things you typed are GONE.....

It definately sucks for us spammers! I find my left index finger glued to the f5 key. I press it after every post! Well, after hitting the back button 4 times. Thank god it's right next to my thumb on the mx700!

I mean the one under the down arrow button under the scrollwheel. I binded that button to be F5.

Hmm... I can't find the option to do that. It's not in the control panel. And I don't have mouseware installed... It's actually doing nothing right now. It worked when I had mouseware installed. But I didn't bother installing it when I reformatted my HDD...:Crying

Mouseware is pretty crappy if you ask me. I'm just too lazy to uninstall it, and I rarely use that tiny button anyway.

Nah, the timer's fine. It takes me that long to think up where I left the keyboard, not to mention witty reparte. :banghead

It's kinda too far down and a pain to reach for. Even when I did have it installed, I found it much easier and faster to alt+tab rather than clicking it for the menu then clicking the right window.

Does it ever happen to you that you took shorter than 30 seconds to make 2 replies?

No, I think it's fine the way it is.
Lots of people are spending lots of time posting lots of stuff that doesn't have anything to do with anything. And it's starting to irritate me, just like it irritated Digital Sin.
I mean, come on. When you reach 1000 posts, that's cool. When you reach 2000, that's cool. When you reach 5000, that's cool. But I've been seeing so many threads lately that are nothing more than "Woot! I have 100 posts!" "Woot! I have 400 posts!" "Woot! I have 600 posts!"
And what's been contributed? How many people have been helped by some of these posts? What percentage of these posts are actually filled with some kind of content, and what percentage is just spam?
Rant off.

Actually the Floodcheck (Minimum time between posts) was 30 secs. I've since made it 20 secs.

Well, some of us come to this board for other things than to spam...
Not to say I don't... But it's not what I do the vast majority of the time.
(Edit - I will learn to type one of these days. I really will.)

But it's the "Off Topic" forums! Like the name, it's off topic? Posting on topic in the off topic would make it off topic which makes it on topic so it's really off topic so that means it's on topic but that makes it off topic so now it's on topic making it off topic making it... I'm confusing myself... Maybe we should change the name to "Random Junk but keep it on topic?"

I vote we change the name of Off Topic to just:
"Stuff".
Just "Stuff".
Any stuff you want.

That's a pretty liberal approach...I mean, that could turn the Babes thread to X rated very fast...and I know we have some youngsters (and perhaps some adults as well) that don't need to be exposed to such content as "Any stuff you want" would allow. Yes, I know you didn't intend it to be like that...I'm just saying...we should just keep stuff as it is, it has worked just fine for how long now as it stands? :Holy Crap

Enough forums have their own General Mayhem forum, and it's not a pretty site I would say. Everything is messed up.

The 30 second is stopping stylinprofilin from getting to 2000 before I do ;x Keep it, or make it 45.

Maybe we can make him his own thread where he can post anything he wants as many times as he wants until he reaches 2000

No...such a thread would make the servers die, our brains turn to mush, and demons to start rising out of every computer still attached to dial-up. :Holy Crap

That's why you don't see much dial-up users in the Off Topic forum because most of the threads jumps EVERYWHERE

Yeah, I can too...heck...I used to run 24k up until like 3 months before I got cable, finally started getting 56k speeds just before I got broadband, now, I could never look back.

I don't think I can EVER go back on a modem.
Hey, I think I just saw the Timer lowered to 20 seconds. Is that correct?

I ran across it once, I thought I saw new post every 20 seconds. My internet has been slow tonite with all the downloads, so the time is GOOD for now.

Well, I just meant change the name - the same rules would still apply.
I was just saying that instead of trying to come up with a title that encompasses everything we get up to in Off Topic, just keep it simple and call it "Stuff". Cause all the stuff that doesn't go anywhere else goes in here.
Definitely keep the same rules though. I don't want all that other stuff either.
