I leave for Otterbein on the 5th.. but I have an advantage.. I don't have to get used to dorm life and classes all at once.. for the first week I've only got band so the campus won't be very crowded either. Best wishes to all those heading to school soon!!:)

Oh...how I wish I could go back to school:Crying

But I have my cubicle, phone and computer waiting for me at 8:00am tomorrow morning....and praying to our dear Lord I get that $30,000 furniture order I have been working on all week.

Enjoy your school years! They will be over before you know it and you will be punching a clock somewhere and reporting to someone. No summers off, no Columbus Day's off or holidays like that.

You will get the general ones, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day(3 days off for me this weekend) Thanksgiving, The day after, Christmas. And for me sometimes Christmas Eve or the day after.

Again, that all depends where you work also...

And you have to wait till you get vacation time....

Don't mean to depress any of you. But like I said...enjoy your school years! I really mean that:)

I had a blast in college and would go back in a heartbeat...

I might be an education major as well...though if anything, I'd be a history/political science teacher...school some kids on the reality of the world.

Good attitude. I had a couple of "experiences" before I met Ed. I wish I had waited though. He knows my complete past and melted my heart one night when I had ask him if things bothered him. His response was "You can't dwell in the past. You can't change it. What happened in the past is what makes you what you are today. I love what you are today and all I'm concerned about is our future." I cried for an hour. God smiled at me when Ed appeared in my life.

Feel free. If men and women both were to learn that one simple facet of life relationships would be so much better. I love her and that's the bottom line. She has been totally honest about things and I've been totally honest with her. If people would learn that a relationship is based on LOVE, RESPECT, TRUST and HONESTY there would be almost no divorce rate.

BTW: I'm online remotely from John Hopkins hospital in Baltimore, MD. She is here until tomorrow for a battery of test and procedures involved with her yearly physical. She is part of a research program that studies the physiology of certain people that are ranked in the top 25 in the world for intelligence and stamina. She has to endure a 20 mile run on a treadmill this morning with more wires and tubes hooked up to her than the space shuttle. After that there is a couple of angiograms, a MRA, a CTA and a whole body MRI. This is on top of a thorough physical. So she will be scarce for the next couple of days.

I started school this week... I'm a professional student :Sigh

I'm a math major with a minor in education, I want to teach high school math. I'm also taking enough Physics so I can teach that also.

Full load this semester...hopefully enough time left to play computer games :surrender

I'll love my job when I'm done though...had the chance to teach one class so far and loved it. :luxhello

All those in school keep at it! It will pay off in the end! :KICK ASS

I really hope I have a chance to do my student teaching overseas, with the DoD! That would be the experince of a life time! :Holy Crap

Learn to love learning whether your going to college to start or expand your professional career. The way I see it, if you aren't trying to expand your professional skills at least 5 hours a week then not only are you wasting your time, but you are chosing to remain in a career rut.

Good in Principle but difficult when the company you work for only employs Contractors to save Pension/permanent expense - it is hard to study when you are knackered after working you 'arris off due to the fact they won't pay for an extra body

5 hours a week? Does being on here count?

Of course, I know more than my father does, and I'm still learning... Haven't taken a college course in years and don't intend to... But I'm doing what I like to do... So that's something.

Networking is fun...when I got broadband, I pretty much networked my house for more than I'd ever need, I enjoy doing it, but as I said, I don't think I could be a computer tech. or something, its only my hobby.

You never know, though... I've done music and computers... I was in bands for a while, and now I'm in computers... Back in 1991 I never would have dreamed I'd know more than my father about them... But he refuses to learn new stuff, and I'm always reading, and researching, and learning... So now he's jealous of me.

But it's cool.

I'm only gonna give you this piece of advice - do what you love. If computers is your hobby, then why not do it? It was my hobby, and now I do it full-time. Just don't make the mistake I did and not go to school for it - you'll pay for it later... Believe me, I am...

As far as the lone gateway goes...not quite...I started with an internet gateway, yes, followed by an 8 port wired switch and even included an 802.11b WiFi setup (might I add, I really didn't need), pretty much for the sole sake of the eventual LAN parties in my basement.

Cisco I have worked with before, though not on a large scale (pretty much limited to helping the IT guy in school), and Nortel I have not have the honor of touching yet...the one major thing I have learned, however, is that I simply hate Novell NetWare....the software just flat out in my opinion sucks.

Maniacmous
08-31-2003, 10:09 PM
Yeah, they used to run Novell networking at my high school...it was absolute junk, utterly useless for most people, while at the same time making basic tasks far more complicated than they should have been...just really didn't like it. (Would say the same for Fortres, the computer lockout software...except we just found very easy and fast ways around that...lol)

Yeah...its just horrendous isn't it? Right now though I seriously think they are finally getting knocked down in market share, which to be honest, I hope does happen until they come out with really good products like they had in the past.

I get one more week off....gotta get my money together to pay off my $10000CDN tuition. Can you believe it???

$10000 for 2 semester in a Bachelor Business Administration program?!?!??!?!:bomb :banghead :shocking :bomb :banghead :banghead :bomb :shocking

I'm glad in Canada, we have a student loan, and my parents can lend me a few grand to cover my tuition. It'll be one hefty loan to pay back when I graduate. Gotta work harder to earn more scholarships......

Nothing wrong with Novell if you know what you are doing - Micro$oft should know - they Mimicked a lot of features in Active directory from NDS

Been a while but it was very easy to administer - it is only dieing out 'cos of the MS Deathgrip

Yep, as a student administrator....running novell was sure an easy thing. But the school board's license ran out....then back to microsoft security holes we went.

Man, I missed being a student administrator, I get an administrator other while others wished they weren't on a student account.:Nice

Ya, using the university computer lab with a very limited student access account definitely suck.
