I'm putting together a computer out of old parts I have lying around (1700+). I'm can't decide whether to make it a dedicated folding machine or a dedicated UD machine. I want to put it to work where it will do the most good, so which project should I donate my CPU time to?

UD agent!

Why? Because it's going to help the real world and not some
Alien pissing in space.:lmao

actually... that would be seti@home

Folding@home is okay, but UD agent is more useful... but it takes a whole lot longer that the other 2. In Seti, I could get a WU done in 2-2.5 hrs. In UD, w/o any breaks, it takes at least 11hrs.

Finds ways to treat and possibly cure cacer. By default it also will do SmallPox... which is lots quicker than the cancer ones

I set smallpox off in settings so I would only do cancer. lets see...

it has been 4 hours and I am 23% done on a cancer one.

I have a P4 2.4B (533 FSB)

Lots of processing time.

It looks like I won't be curing anything. The old ECS K7S5A motherboard I had for the system was dead. I don't know why. It was working a couple months ago. Oh well...

replace the cmos battery!!
It is a cheap fix and if it was working before I would bet it is the problem

But a bad CMOS battery should only cause it to lose its settings every time the computer is turned off. When I power it on, nothing happens at all, other than the fans and HDD spinning up.
