Anyone ever heard of these new cigarettes? They're called Eclipse and they are better than regular cigarettes. They don't burn. They merely heat tobacco. And they don't leave an odor. No smoke from the tip meaning reduces second-hand smoke by 80%. They are still cigarettes but less risk.
As for the taste, they taste different. The smoke is mostly moisture. They took a while to get used to. They taste better than ultralights but not as strong as lights. Well, they taste like "smokey" lights for a lack of a better description. You guys should give it a try. You as in smokers. If you don't smoke... STAY AWAY! SMOKING IS BAD!!! And you'll get addicted and loose all your computer money!

How do you know when it's done?
So you're smoking moisture???:What the
I'm confused....so what exactly are you smoking? Do you still breathe out smoke though? Do you still get to use the zippo to light it???
and I haven't seen these in Canada or else I'd give it a try.

You're still smoking tobacco. But since the tobacco isn't burning, there's more moisture meaning the smoke you breathe out will dissipate more quickly and leave less odor. You'll know when it's out because there'll be less smoke and less flavor. It takes a while to get used to. It takes longer to light because you have to light it until the carbon core glows. Much like a cigar. It also has a cigar-like flavor. The neat thing is the filter doesn't turn yellow after smoking one.

Believe me, I've tried. but going from a pack a day to none is VERY HARD! I've gone on the patch but my timing was all wrong. I did it a week before the National Speech&Debate tournament. And if you were just starting to quit, there is no way in hell you'd made it through without a cig. Heck, even a couple of guys at the tournament who had quit 3 months prior had to have some cigarettes.
It's extremely hard to smoke if you don't have motivation even if you have the desire.

Why is it that 90 year olds who smoke 2 cigar's a day never develop lung cancer?
Then the 50 year old who quit 10 years ago has to have 3 ribs removed and major lung surgury?
Based on a true story btw.

I get really annoyed whenever people tell me "you should quit." I've been told that many times, I've tried, didn't work.
Or when they say "smoking is bad for your healt!"
"no duh! So is giving advice to people who didn't ask for it."
Or when they say "You're polluting the air!"
"Oh! Puh-LEEZ!!! You car puts out more pollution on the way to the store than my cigarettes in a year!"
Tip: Don't tell a random smoker that they should quit or walk by like the smoke is giving you an aneurysm. It's annoying, it's rude, just let them be. It's their own life anyways.
If it reduces second hand smoke, I am all for it! By the way, I don't smoke. I hate second hand smoke though.

I like the smell in my shirts because of my grand father that
passed away, but the Stuff hurts my eyes. I can't see why
anyone would want to smoke everyday. All it ever did for
me was a small buzz and something to do when drunk.
I've got good lungs and would like to keep them clean.
I can swim back and forth under water across a swimming

Bhutan seeks to ban smoking
Since 1729, Bhutan has tried to stop people from smoking, and finally success may be in sight. By the end of this year, the Himalayan kingdom could become the first nation in the world to completely ban the habit.
Bhutan has already prohibited smoking in 18 of its 20 districts and hopes to outlaw it nationwide by the end of 2003. For years, the isolated Buddhist nation has invoked the authority of the scriptures to try to deter smokers. But officials say religion alone has not been enough.
“We’re pushing both the health and religious aspects to make Bhutan tobacco-free,” director of the health department, Gado Tshering, who has campaigned against the habit, told Reuters.
“We consider smoking a sin in our religion. Monks and religious people will never smoke.” The capital, Thimphu, and some places surrounding it are now the only spots where the ban does not apply.
Officials say the number of smokers has shot up in recent years as young people took up the habit as a fashion statement. Today, despite the ban on importing and selling cigarettes and tobacco, it is not uncommon to see people lighting up.
Smoke clouds the air in snooker bars as young Bhutanese lean over the tables, cigarettes danging from their lips. “We’ve banned smoking in public places in 18 districts. But in individual houses or behind a rock we cannot see what people are doing,” said Tshering. “We’ve made a commitment to the World Health Organisation that Bhutan will be the first country to be tobacco free.”
In 1729, the founder of modern Bhutan, the warrior monk Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, enacted the first ban on smoking in public when he outlawed tobacco in government buildings.
But the popularity of smoking has grown over the years and the ban today has resulted in a flourishing grey market in parts of the country with small neighbourhood shops selling foreign cigarettes at a huge premium — about 120 to 150 ngultrum ($2.60-$3.30) a pack. “You can’t stop people who want to smoke. All that this ban has done is encourage smuggling,” scoffed an artist in Thimphu. Locals say the ban has sparked debate but there has been little resistance because smoking still is not as much a part of Bhutanese culture as drinking.
“There isn’t a strong smokers’ lobby but if you were to ban drinking that would certainly face resistance,” said Kinley Dorji, editor of Bhutan’s only newspaper, Kuensel.
“Opponents say, ‘Why infringe on our rights?’ So, we’re talking to people, having brainstorming sessions before introducing the ban in Thimphu,” said Tshering. But none of that matters to some smokers. “The choice is mine,” said a tour operator, reaching for a pack. “Besides, cigarettes will always be available.” —Reuters

In California, there is no smoking in public buildings. And some places, like Berkeley, even if you are outside, if there is a roof over your head, no smoking. It's funny how I can tell when customers are from out-of-town when they come in and say "non-smoking section please."

It is a tough road but it is worth it.
I'm 32 now and making it to 30 was not in my plans durring my 20's. When I hit 30 and was still alive and relativily sane I decided to see if I pick up the pieces and see what clean and sober felt like for awhile. It still s*cks. but now I can do something to change it instead of hiding in the powders. Monkeys get heavy when you get older.

The funny thing is when ever I ask people why they started smoking and they say "stress."
It makes absolutely no sense. If you are a non-smoker, when you think of stress, you don't think cigarettes. For those who have never had cigarettes, they haven't experienced the "illusion" of relief that cigarettes give you. For those who were former smokers, I can understand it, but in actuality, stress is not the reason people start smoking.
For the smokers in here, think about what I just said and tell us why you started.
For me, I started my senior year in high school almost 3 years ago (right after Christmas 2000). I was burning out from school. My grades dropped. I had a maximum possible GPA of 4.5 and I had a 2.7 that year. I was angry with myself and didn't like how things were turning out and I wanted to punish myself. So I took up smoking cuz it was better than delinquency. The strange thing was that I did not want anyone to know that I started smoking. Since my room is a separate structure from the house in the backyard, I was able to smoke in there in privacy. It still didn't make me do any better in school. I graduated with a cumulative GPA of 3.499 and to graduate with honors, you had to have a 3.5 cumulative GPA. So I missed it by 0.001. So was smoking the answer? Nope. It was merely a "security blanket" that buried me in a hole. I'm still in that hole but I'm digging my way out. I declined the Universities that I got into and I'm going to a jr. college instead and taking it one step at a time. Like Waz, I also hate smoking. It sometimes feels like IT is running my life. I want to quit but things haven't been going in that direction. I can afford a pack a day ($35 a week), but I can't afford to buy a 2 week supply of patches for $50. Now isn't THAT a sorry-@$$ excuse?
So for those of you younguns thinking about smoking for ANY reason: DONT!!!

It is bad when you start giving the meth monsters pet names...It has f*ck my life since '91. It got worst after I learned how to make it.
I used to smoke it like crack so now all the calcium has leached out of my jaw and my teeth are falling out and I am only 32. The dentist say I might get to keep 4 of the lower ones.
It is the monkey that still rides around with me. He is very very small now but every once in awhile I still hear him tring to get at me.
I have made it over a year and a half so far, It's why I left Colorado Springs and all my so called friends. It is around up here but my friends know where I stand, and that I will piss all over any I see.I have done it, at a party full of people. And they just stood there unable to understand WTF was going on. The guy that owned it got mad but was to weak to punch hard, it was a short fight. I don't get invited to those kinds of parties anymore:luxhello
Which is a good thing for me.
The pot monkey is still here but he is fun to play with every once in awhile, for now. But I'm starting to push him in a box too. $50 bag of grass that will last a few days or a $50 game or piece of hardware. Yes I might be trading one addiction for another but computers are less destructive.

~Merv
I really started because I thought it was cool. I knew the risks, I knew it was bad for me, but I'm very pig-headed and stubborn, and I did it anyway. And now I'm addicted and I'm trying to quit.
But I can understand the stress part... I find I smoke much more when I'm stressed - but I know it's just something to do - it's my head needing the cig more than my body. I know when I don't smoke for a few days I feel a lot better.
I'm ready to quit. I've had enough of those things and their effect on me. I'm like you - I never thought I'd hit 30, but now here I am, and I think it's time to make a few changes. So I had my last puff this afternoon, and now I'm going to make the effort. I need a cigarette badly, but I'm not going to have one. I'm done with those foul things and I'm ready to move on... I want to be healthy for once in my life.

Sigh.. I was never that bad with any drug, but I understand fully.
I also had to leave behind friends because I could not get away
from things. Was just not the life I wanted... I think Pot should be
legal because it's just so.. umm weak and you can't kill yourself
smoking it, so I don't understand the ban. Anyway, Pot is good
for people to relax on a weekends after a really crappy day. Just
don't do it everyday.. easy to say that.. but it's hard to do. I
don't hang out with any friends that smoke or do drugs now so
there is no problem there.

I never did like the regular stuff.. I think it was like 35 ~ 50 for
a quarter ounce? and 85 ~ 100 for kind bud. You know
the stuff with those hairs and the THC that looks like sugar
candy crystals? Oh Man, one hit and your debating rainbow colors to
Willy Wonka at the 7-11.

Way to go!! I am rooting for ya...
On a positive note... Play a few rounds of UT2k3 or any FPS. I found that my reaction times were real fast because I was so on edge from the jones...
It does get easier...

ROTFLMAO:lmao
I think we go to the same dude......:bounce
I have nothing against smokers - the problem is that smoke is attracted to non-smokers - it really is! Your clothes and hair get infested witht the smell. That is why people get annoyed. Nobody get's upset at drunks - until you get hurled on - get the analogy?
BTW I worked at a Big Tobacco Company for two years and they are evil swine :devil :devil (luckily I was just a contractor there) the stiff that went down on the " Insider" goes on all the time - the chairman of the place I worked was the MD of Brown and Williamson - they got a print of the film before it was released and studied it to see if they could sue. THey are not human

Yeah, Well, I'm a smoker, and I wish they had those Eclipses around here somewhere, I'd like to give 'em a try sometime, Supposed to have much less second hand smoke, which would be good, because practically all of my current friends are non-smokers, And they all complain and everything...And I'd like to quit, but right now the crutch for dealing with stress is too good, and I'd rather Quit when I feel I'm ready, and more stable...Not now...

Willy Wonka at the 7-11. No. late '70s and through the 80's. Just got bored with it. Yeah, I've seen the one-hit stuff. It was fun for a while... :smokin
