WHY IS GUINNESS BLACK YET THE BUBBLES THAT SETTLE ON TOP, WHICH ARE MADE OF THE SAME STUFF, ARE WHITE http://acns.fsu.edu/~jmaynard/3GM/ponder.gif

Unlike bath foam, which has many semi-coalesced bubbles, Guinness foam is made mainly of uniformly sized, spherical bubbles of about 0.1 to 0.2 millimetres in diameter, suspended in the good fluid itself.

Near the edge of the drop of foam it's possible to find isolated examples of bubbles, and by viewing objects held behind these it's clear that they act as tiny divergent lenses.
Just as a clear spherical marble, which has a higher refractive index than the surrounding air, can act as a strong magnifying glass, so spherical bubbles in beer diverge light because the air they contain has a lower refractive index than the surrounding fluid.

As a result, light entering the surface of the foam is rapidly scattered in different directions by multiple encounters with the bubbles. Reflections from the bubbles' surfaces also contribute to this scattering.

Some of the light finds its way back to the surface and because all wavelengths are affected in the same way we see the foam as white. Light scattering from foam is akin to the scattering from water droplets that causes clouds to be white. This is called Mie scattering.

I can poor a glass with no head.

That reminds me.. once way back working for this place
I will not say because I HATE THEM! My boss was hitting
on this girl at the bar. He said, "Girl you need to give more
head." She smiled and was shocked! He then said, "You
need to give more head on this beer...There is no head!"
Then she said, "If I can get more tips not giving head
then what are you trying to say, that I should be a *****?

Later.. "Jared what is wrong with that man? He has a wife
and kids... really now if I was a ***** how much would I
be worth? Gots to be more than a head of bear.." Hmmm..
Well girl.. do you have change for a dollar? /SLAP /SLAP

Later.. "There is too much head..."
"shut up I'm working on that tip.":devil

And the head on Guinness is NOT white. It's cream-coloured. That's the way God intended it to be.( BTW, the best black-and-tans are made with Guinness and Fosters.)

It's better from a Tap.. Not something you drink while eating foods. I drink Zima, Asti Wines, Apple Cider Beer and just about anything sweet. Hmmmmm.. Kahlua .. If there was ever something that I'd become addicted too it would be Kahlua's. I can drink those from the bottle and feel the urge to drink again and again... so tasty ... :banghead

Homemade Kahlua:
Dissolve sugar in 2 cups of boiling water and add corn syrup. Dissolve the instant coffee in the remaining water. Pour syrup and coffee in a gallon jug. Let it cool. Add vodka and vanilla when cold. For the best result, let the mixture "mature" for 4-5 weeks.

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups Sugar
1 cup Corn syrup
1 1/2 oz instant Coffee
2 oz Vanilla
3 cups boiling Water
1 fifth Vodka

----------- Wait.. There are more!

Ingredients:
1 qt Water
3 cups Sugar
4 tblsp Coffee, instant
1 tblsp Vanilla

Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer 1 hour. let cool and add vanilla and either a pint or fifth of Vodka. Drink and Enjoy!!

----------Not done yet!

Ingredients:
4 cups Water
4 cups Sugar
2 oz Coffee, instant
1 Vanilla bean
1 fifth Bourbon, cheap

Simmer water, sugar, and coffee until the sugar dissolves. Put vanilla bean and bourbon in a gallon jug and add the coffee syrup you just prepared. Cover and let sit one month.

----------Where are you going?

Ingredients:
4 cups Water
5 tsp Coffee, instant
2 1/2 cups Sugar
1 1/2 cup Vodka
1 tblsp Chocolate syrup

Boil water. Add cofee. Add sugar. Simmer, 20 min. Remove from heat, add chocolate. Alow to cool. Add vodka (or don't cool if you want some of the alcohol to boil off).

---------As if I was even done here!

Ingredients:
3 cups Sugar
3 cups Water
12 tsp Coffee, instant
2 tblsp Coffee, good fresh coarsely ground
3 cups Vodka
1 cup Brandy
6 tsp Vanilla extract

Mix first 4 ingredients and simmer them for 1.5-2 hours with occasional stirring. Cool. Add the rest of the stuff. Filter and pour into dark bottles. Keep the bottles in a cool, dark place for 3 months. Shake every day.

--------Take it up a notch...BAM!

Ingredients:
8 oz strong Coffee
8 cups Sugar
8 tblsp Vanilla powder
12 cups boiling Water
1/2 gal cheap Brandy

Use fifteen 12 oz bottles with tops (cork is prefered with liquor bottles). Make sure the bottles are clean. Mix the coffee, sugar, vanilla poweder in the largest bowl you have. Add the boiling water and make sure all of the ingredients are blended well. Let cool to room tempature and then add the brandy (make sure that you give it time to cool so you don't cook down the brandy). Get a funnel and bottle your Kahlua immediately. Let stand for a couple of days. Enjoy!!!!

--------Dam Tivon are we there yet?

Ingredients:
4 cups boiling Water
4 cups Sugar
1 Vanilla bean, whole
2 oz Coffee, instant
1 fifth Vodka

Mix 3 cups water with 4 cups sugar, bring to boil and boil for 20 minutes. Set aside, add 1 whole vanilla bean split. Let mixture cool. Add 2 oz instant coffee to 1 cup boiling water. Stir until dissolved. Set aside & cool. When above are cool (important) put into a half gallon container and add the vodka. Let age for at least 3 weeks.

-------------What? You thought I had more? Get out of here!

Okay who is going to make me some?
BAH!.. Better just pay the 15$ at Jax.:Beer

Guinness is THE Liquid Lunch!
There have been many times I got a bit too carried away at the pub at lunch, and turned up for work after lunch, steaming.
Not a good idea, if you have to sit thru 4 hours of meetings in a cramped, hot, room that afternoon. Its VERY hard to stay awake. :devil

I could really go for a Guinness right now, but its half past midnight, and all the decent pubs have now closed. Arse!
Could try a night club I suppose, but I don't fancy treking all the way into the city centre for a crappy pint. I want a proper pint! :D
