I would like to see if they carve this HUGE pumpkin!!!

I saw this picture and thought I would share it with all of you:)

Halloween is fast approaching!

I just :heartbeat this time of year!

Edit: Would help if I put in the caption that came with the picture!

Bruce Whittier, at center behind pumpkin wearing red hat, gets some help from his neighbors as he lifts his pumpkin onto a tarp for weighing Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Henniker, N.H. The pumpkin weighed in at 1,458 pounds, and Whittier believes it is the heaviest recorded in the world.

Barnesville, OH....every October...they have the Pumpkin Festival...as a part of said festival, they have many such giant pumpkins entered into a contest for "King Pumpkin". The town is only like 15 min. from my house...so I tend to go out every year and check it out...kinda interesting if not lame, check it out if you get the chance.

No Efer. Southern Pumpkin pie is made with a home made backed crust kinda like an apple pie crust as opposed to a graham cracker crust.

First, they actually had boat races in the pumpkin shells. Yup that is right. they hollowed out the pumpin and raced eachother across a lake. =)

Second... referring to the post above me ^

Mmmm... pumpkin pie...

One of my favorites... Along with apple and cherry...

That's one of the things I look forward to on Thanksgiving - apart from stuffing myself with everything else, that is... :)

Hey Wazman, you sound like me. Thanksgiving at my dad's is an affair to remember. My mother, sister, both sister-in-laws and myself hit the kitchen about two days before. Usually my dad and Ed is in the mix also. We usually feed 50-75 family members and it's easier to remember what wasn't on the menu than what was. Ed brought his moms southern cooking receipts and southern cooking expertize and when we get through it's like the remains of a food fight without the food. Stuff city.

God, I'm strangely hungry.

I hear you blpeterson! My mouth is watering for turkey, stuffing, spuds, hot biscuts and more!

The air is now cool, the leaves are changing...all the Halloween goodies is in the stores...

And Thanksgiving will be here before we know it!

I always make Cranberry Sauce and pies for our family feast. We usually go to my folks house for the big day. My poor dad is allergic to cats and we have them and so do my in-laws. So my parents house it is.

Usually my aunt and uncle( my dad's sister) comes and maybe a pilgram. My uncle's mother said for Thanksgiving you shall always invite the pilgram. And she brought along an old friend of her's. So it was a good day last year.

And football on TV too:)

Sounds like you have a small town at your gathering!

We say the favorite past time in Iowa in the winter is cooking and making babies.:) God my family excels in both. We average a multiple birth about every third pregnancy. Take my sister Kim. She has a 5-year-old daughter that’s the spitting image of me complete with the brainpower. She has 18-month-old triplets and is expecting twins in December. My cousin Richard who is married to one of my junior officers (I love playing cupid.:)) is due with twins in November. And my oldest nephew and his wife are expecting their first in December. Gonna be a fun Holiday.

Ever heard of the original Delawarian sport called Pumpkin chunkin where people mount massive air cannons to the top of things such as school busses and launch pumpkins out of them.

See what us people from Delaware do. We get bored really easily. Oh... and damn those pumpkins fly (these are bad pumpkins btw... not ones you would eat)

Sounds like multiples run in your family:) Sounds like a busy holiday season at your household:)

Playing cupid? I tried that once. I tried to hook up my friend with someone I knew. Well instead of "Love at first sight" it was more like "Hate at first sight":lmao

Never tried it again......

She has gone back on duty at Norfolk and will be TDY to Wood's Hole, MA The entire month on October. Fall in New England, Man that's rough duty.:)

She put a thread up here about being scarce for a while. Drop her a note she'll be checking in when she can. Of course we will be talking everyday.:heartbeat

Ed will be alone that weekend and might can come. I'm talking to him as I type this. He's going to check and see what his schedule is. I know he needs to go see a friend in Savannah on weekend I don't have him booked.:) This is 24-25 correct.
