65F is what the thermostat stays at. (18.3C)
20-24c on days and it dropps to 13-16c on nights because it's easier to sleep when it's colder ...

Not too bad in the winter - hellish in Summer tough - we have no Aircon so it gets up in the 30s:jawsdown
One reason to move away from AMD - they just can't take the heat here

15 ~ 25
60 ~ 78
It's never set to the same setting all day. If I work
outside or do a work-out, 60 feels dam good! But
if I'm just on the computer all day then 70 feels the
best. 78 is really at the peak of too hot for me, but
is what my WIFE likes. Then again I can't lower the
temp of my house too much because of the Florida
:sun_smile and the cost to run the AC all day.

Back home I like to keep my bedroom under 60F, here, we leave the windows open all the time and all 6 fans on...so, on some of the cold nights, we wake up to 40-50F or so...which is good for me.
I hate sleeping when it is hot - my g/f feels the cold even in the tropics- imagine the arguments!

Yeah, I love cold temperatures, it could be because I'm always hot...but heat is especially bad when you're trying to sleep...as if it isn't hard enough to sleep as is for me...if I'm too hot...its over, no chance, regardless of drugs or whatever (prescription, not like crack :smokin )

I have two themometers in my room from walmart. When it get down into the 50's outside my room is at 62 degrees but, in December and January when it gets below freezing at night here in North Florida in the 20's my room is in the 50's. ALL three of my windows are stuck in the lowest levels I have a constant draft. I have no space heater plus, the central heat and air needs to be fixed it's burned out!
We tried WD 40 it didn't work but i'm getting them replaced when it gets real cold! During the spring and summer my house stays at a constant 74 degrees. In the fall if it's cool outside around 68 degrees. :)

That's the way Brandi and I sleep. We have the room in the mid 60's in the summer and in the winter we let it go down to 50 - 55. Then we snuggle up under the covers. Now you know where our nicknames for each other came from.:Holy Crap :thumb

I'd say about 18c-20c
During winter it can get down as low as 7C, and in summer as high as 30C.
Mind you I've just moved house, so it's a whole new ball game for me. :D we'll see

10-26-2003, 06:41 PM
Because I have no AC, I live on the top floor and I run my computers 24/7, in the summer months my room can get up to 98°+ F!!!! But if I had to guess, my house temp would probably average around 72° to 76° F.
I think they say the accepted average is 72° F (22° C).

Summer Room temperature tops out at 22 Degrees C: I partially close two dampers in my home that are in coolers area and open the Computer room's damper to full and run a fan to keep the air moving...The house stays in the 23-24 degree range, but the computer room I try and keep to 22 Degrees or less.
Winter I have no problem with... I have three or four spaceheaters running constantly (One Smoothwall and Two Duallies) to keep me warm.
Room temperature never drops below 18 Degrees C on even the coldest nights.
I am seriously exploring energy management as part my soon-to-be built Computer room out in the Garage. My Electric Bills in Summer can get really expensive if I go over my average allotment (due to how we are billed here) in any one month period.
One way to help with that would be to put a vent above and behind each Tower/CPU with a central blower to expel waste heat from the building altogether, or in winter, redirect that heat to the inside of the house. That way, the Air Conditioning system would not have to cope with cooling air hotter than the ambient temperature outside (even if it reaches the high 30's, that air is 3-5 degrees cooler than the typical exhaust temperature of a PSU driving a Duallie). Nor would the heater have to run as long to keep the house warm in Winter.
Fortunately, making such an arrangement work will be fairly easy because of the close proximity of the said computer room to the HVAC system. Waste heat would be directed the ventilated Attic in summer, and in winter, redirected to the Intake Plenum of the HVAC unit.

Haha, yeah, I'm dealing with that culture shock right now, because the rest of the building is like 70F, but since its always hot as Hades in our room, we've got all the windows open (5 of them) and 6 fans running, with the door open to allow the breeze out (and hence more in). We are down to around 43F in here at the moment and dropping...finally nice and cool in here for the first time since I got here. On the 8th floor, heat is always rising to meet us, luckily its cold enough out that we can win the battle.

AS5 lowers temperatures about 5c min compared to as3..(.BTW what happened to AS4? ... ), plus i apply it to the die then put a bead around the die to make sure that the ridges on the side of the die are also conducting heat... basically my processor is sealed in a coat of AS alllll the time

49 Degrees C for an AMD XP processor is plenty cool.
They are RATED for up to 70 Degrees C.

yeah but it's a little high for my likeing, considering that 56 is the norm, and the all time high I have seen is 59, and this isn't even during 100%CPU load which is what really bugs me about this whole thing!

In certain parts of Asia, the number 4 is bad.
I dunno if that bead on the outside really helps too much, but hey...
I wonder what they called the Pentium 4 in Asia. 49C is not bad at all... my 2.4B gets that hot when I have all my fans on low in the summer running UD agent.

bah u people are nutz....with ur high temps and all... my computer room is ALWAYS 18-25C and my cpu even @ 1490rpm's on the 80mm is @ like max 45C that's @ 152mhz fsb and 1595mhz(1.4ghz stock).
but because the TT fan's SOOO quiet i run it @ 2900rpms and drops that 45 to 39-42(right now 42c@2960rpms while running UDagent)
(i relaxe my bios settings when OCing because the proc obiously is going to generate more heat)

well considering the cooler I have in there, thats proboably the root of the situation, also my room temp is 70 degrees F, might be cooler, but thats as low as the home built curcut board I made goes, but anywayz, I have 4 case fans on 24/7 my PSU has 4 fans I don't understand why its getting these high temps

seems that your problem is either Heatsink releated along with airflow obstruction due to wires or it is an ambient temperature problems with a heatsink problems or it is a combination of the three

yeah, that was another one of my concerns, I need to sleeve PSU and get all those wires under control, I have got some work to do:thumb along with getting my new heatsink put in

I have one of those cheiftec copies and I bent and hid most of my cables behind the drive cages. also hid stuff behind the motherboard tray. try doing that for starters

you don't need to remove the tray
just feed the cables between the tray and the side panel

but the space is really tight I'm worried about dammigin the cables, also I set a new low for the temp on CPU tonight 47 C with an average of 50 C WOOT! thats the lowest ever! also the case temp is a new low of 19 C witch is great with a average of 25 C

man... if u want some serious cable management to SATA... then buy a roll of super low resistance(aka. 80%+ pure copper) solid-copper 14-guage wire and a pile of molex heads tails and connector housings and wire ur system running EVERYTHING behind the mobo and in the space behind the mobo try and your right side panel...
i've been saving up like 200 bucks to completely re-wire my case.. and when i'm done u won't even be able to tell if anythings een plugged in or not....
mind i'm expecting to take about 15-20hours and du that
for a more realistic approach... get some rounded cables and a 50-pack of the mini-zip ties/cable ties...
and if u think ur up to it..
get like a 4 pack of molex parts and put 2 or 3 fans onto one molex plug... saves from having all the stupid little 3 inch in-line patch cables that non-rpm-monitored fans have... i got a bunch of these in-line molex connectors that u just put together.. it's 1 piece and the wire for the fan comes out of it..i dunno where to get em.. i just pulled it of my TTvolcano11+ 3-to-4 pin adapter...

ya I need to do some wiring also, plan to make my own cables as well when I have the time so that I can route and hide my cables as well but it will be awhile before I get enough free time to do that.
