I ordered a new digital camera today, fa la la boom de yay!

Canon S400 (http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/s400/index.html) so it's the compact that I was looking for. Now I can have one that's easy to carry around, fits in my pocket, for everyday shooting.

4MP, 3x optical zoom and I ordered a 256 mb Ultra II CF card for it. I will add a second battery down the road for it. I didn't see the extra battery as a necessity as I have the Nikon to fall back on.

The Nikon can now stay at home.

You'll enjoy it. My only qualm might be the tiny LCD, however, you'll have to wait and try it. But, yeah, something that small you can carry with you everywhere. You can't get the shot if you don't have a camera.

Good deal! :thumb

The small lcd is something I expected on a compact digital cam. The whole reason for this purpose is so I can have a camera everywhere I go.

I almost got the Olympus that is weather resistant...a major plus if going out with friends, sitting in a bar and setting your expensive camera down on a table that has beer spilled on it. The xD memory card is what kept me away from it. If Olympus had used SD, I would have gotten the Olympus instead.

I'll take some pics of it when I get it and let you know how it does when it arrives in the mail.

Good choice! (Can't go wrong with Canon :Blah)

How much did you get it for?

How much did I get? LOL

Dell got $400.00 from me. Circuit City has it for $359.00 if anyone in the U.S. is interested. Dell would not match their price but came down $50.00 when I called them.

It arrived today...actually after a screw up in shipping and me having to drive to the south side of Arlington, Tx to pick it up, I'm trying to get as much of a charge on the battery so I can take some pics tonight.

It's going to be a nice camera....it fits in my pocket, easy. The size of a pack of cigs, just a hair thicker but that's it. :KICK ASS

Well, short version of the story is, New Years was a bust. I didn't get that many pics so I'm going to post one of the friend of mine who I hung out with last night and his dog that I took last night.

The second one is of Ginger.

A pic of the Olds 88 engine. I do believe that the Nikon takes better pics...a much better lens on the Nikon; however, the Canon takes more than satisfactory pics. I am happy as it is extremely easy to use and seems to be well built.

Dell wanted $449 but they went down $50 when I told them about Circuit City's deal.

hmm... have you tried playing around with the "creative zone" settings on it?

It'd be intresting to see how manual and semi-manual on this compares to my S50

No, not yet. I'll play around with it some this week and post some results. :thumb

Remember, I got this one to fit in my pocket and do mainly point-and-shoot. If I want to dork with settings...I have the Nikon. :Wink
