But a second study presented at the same meeting on another widely used drug - marijuana - revealed a detrimental affect. Smoking cannabis not only reduces the number of sperm and sperm volume produced by a man, it also causes sperm to speed up temporarily and then "burn-out".

This premature "burn-out" may mean a sperm is not active enough to fertilise an egg when it reaches it.

A perfectly sensible choice, it's better than what a woman would have to go through. A 20 minute in-office procedure, relative painless(if you follow the doctors instructions regarding physical exersion)

Call me selfish; however, there are things I want to do in life and childeren are not included. I, personally, think it is selfish just to have childeren when you don't really want them. It's a life long commitment, financially and emotionally. One commitment I don't really wish to make.

There are several single mom's that are available. I'd rather have an instant family than start from the beginning.

At 42 I still am amazd how our youngest is taking in the world, he's now crawling, 'taking chances'on climbing the two stairs into the dining room from the living room, our youngest daughters vocabulary is growing by leaps and bounds now that she's 2, and our oldest daughter is well... nothing amazes us more anymore where she is involved... my 15 yr old from a previous marriage(that might be one reason for staying single at any rate) is now close to the end of school, she has her career picked out... and she still calls me daddy

BUT, I applaud your feelings regarding single moms, my present wife was a divorcee, she supports me as much as I support her, she and I are devoted to our kids.

I've known this since I was in my late teens. I am now 32, I have given myself over 14 years to think about this and make the right decision.

It is not considered reversable. Within a month after the operation, the body develops antibodies agains the sperm. Even if a reversal was successful in the fact that the vas deferens tubes healed up properly, the sperm then have to get past the bodies defenses. Reversal has a very low success rate.

Condoms are necessary, unless married. Little issue called STD's...I don't have any and I don't want any. I just got my physical and a clean bill of health.

I'm not sure how to take this statement. First of all, letting the woman know about the surgery would be something that I would let her know pretty quickly into the initial meeting so that neither of us would be wasting our time. Why you are ASSUMING that I'm planning something devious towards another woman, I have not a clue. Implying this towards me without you really knowing me I consider to be rude.

Why should I not wish to share sexual intimacy with a woman just because I do not wish to have children? Are you trying to say that anyone under the age of 40 not wishing to have children should join the monastery?

I have found, over the years, that my decision upsets more parents with childeren than anyone else. I would love to go without lectures from people thinking I am making an irrational, not thought through, decision.

um... yeah, this is a little off topic. I once saw a bale of hay spontaneously combust, and then had to stay up until the next day to make sure it didn't spread across the field. I also had a tractor with a water tank on the back to make things a little easier....... woulda helped if I had some coffee with me though.
