Fed Up With the United Nations, US Will Turn UN Headquarters into Condos
NEW YORK — The Bush Administration says that it is payback time for the United Nations. The Administration is planning to boot UN diplomats out of New York and to turn the UN headquarters building into condominiums.
A contract has already been let to developer Donald Trump to convert the tall office building into luxury apartments. The General Assembly building will be converted into a movie complex, and the Security Council will be converted into a casino. "Getting any kind of resolution out of the Security Council over the years has been like playing roulette anyway," said one Administration official.
The Donald plans to name the development after himself, and has tentatively decided to name the development Trump World & Casino, to go along with other Trump properties in Manhattan, including Trump Empire State Building, Trump Chrysler Building, Trump Grand Central, and Trump Penn Station.
French construction company, Bouygues, complained that it had not been given a chance to bid on the job. "The US Administration is favoring US developers over French developers. That is unfair. We can be just as tasteless as American developers."
Maybe this will easy the housing shortage in New York City.
