Health officials believe patients contract the illness, also known as avian flu,
through contact with the droppings of sick birds.
why would they want to get that close to bird droppings anyway:What the :What the

Ok.
So we can't eat beef because of Mad Cow, and bottled or filtered water is the only stuff not full of lead.
Now we've got bird flu as our new up-and-coming virus, and we'll all be freaked about chicken.
Salmon has PCBs and it's only recommended you eat it once a month or risk a 1:100,000 chance of cancer.
What's left to eat?
Lol, Bran :lmao?
Oh wait! Our grains have been genetically modified too.
Dang.

I was really annoyed by the whole Salmon report - they admitted that it wasn't conclusive and they did not ever bother checking wild salmon or salmon farmed outside of Scotland.
When comments like theirs can damage an industry, they should double check before posting - or at least allow another team to check their stats

Eating properly cooked chicken is not believed to pose a risk.
I would think it is just like the Salmonella (sp?) germs that you
can get from under cooked or handling raw chicken, but cooked
well done it should be okay and kill all the germs :Holy Crap

ya, WTO say it's supposed to be more deadly than SARS. SARS itself to me, is pretty overrated. I think overall, only 10-15% actually die from it, and most of them are usually seniors or weak patients.

You can't get Bird Flu from eating an infected bird. The Bird Flu is transmitted from being in contact with the droppings of the chickens. It cannot be transmitted from human to human...yet.
The biggest hassel right now is that it is being transmitted to swine, meaning that in a short time the new virus could become a human virus. This is an extremely dangerous virus and if it were to make the jump to a human virus we could very easily have a very serious problem on our hands. :Holy Crap

PCB = polychlorinated biphenyls
It is a chemical used in transformers. GE dumped tons of the stuff into the hudson river back in the 40's thru to the 70's. The fish are unsafe to eat and the PCB's work their way through the food chain and contaminate the river and ground water. :Mad They tried to claim it was ok but it has been proven to be non-biodegradable and carcinogenic. GE then tried to claim it is best to just let it sit and be buried inside the river sediment. The EPA wants to make them dredge it out. Either way, we get screwed because they were lazy and greedy and polluted unecessarily.
