Terminator 3; they don't make one for 10 years, and then all the hype about it, even though it was nothing spectacular. It was a 12A as well, so no good gore effects or anything

Omg that movie was HORRIBLE. I saw it with a friend and omg was it awful. The only good part was the end when I finally left.

I thought the question was most 'UNDER-rated' Movie
Not most 'OVER-Rated' The Matrix sequels probably rate OVER-rated
Pirates of the Carribean would rank as under-rated, not a whole lot of hype yet still could garner a couple of Oscars ... maybe. Tough competition from Finding Nemo and LotR:RotK though
Underworld I've never heard of... but don't bother raving about how good it is to me... I'm not into the Goth scene... it shoulda died with Brandon Lee

lost in translation.....i wouldent call it underrated (lots of critical praise actually), but perhaps underexposed, which is kind of the same. it was an excilent and orginal movie....it wasent a chick flick that i think most guys would think it is...i loved it and will be adding it to the dvd collection.
sadly alot of movies this year were just plain forgettable. its hard to pic a truly underrated one without going indie flick, cause just about everymovie this year was billed as a blockbuster.

Lost in Translation was a great movie. But it got credit where it was due. So I don't know if it is underrated.

Hmm...yeah Lost in Translation was a really good movie (Scarlett Johansson tops my list of cuties in hollywood right now) but I think Naqoyqatsi has to be the best underrated movie of the year...

That's the saddest thing I ever heard... but I've heard it before. The Crow was NOT a goth film, nor was it intended to be. However, because the protagonist wore heavy makeup and dressed all in black, the goth crowd turned out in hordes to see it. Hence, The Crow: City of Angels, one of the worst movies of all time, written by someone who had never read the comics. It was assembled and packaged for the goth crowd.
And what about that word: goth, e.g. gothic, etc. I don't understand how we went from the Visigoths, the fall of the Roman Empire, to vampires and fishnet stockings. :What the
I've been labeled a goth in the past because I wear a black leather duster. Fact of the matter is that dusters are really great coats to wear while horseback riding. :banghead

The visigoths and the goths of modern day are not related. The modern day term goth comes from the Renaissance. The people in the Renaissance looking on the "dark age" called everything between the Renaissance and Enlightened Age goth or gothic. Like Gothic style churches.

Goths today can be traced back to Leeds University in the late 70's/early 80's. If you go there today ther is still a larger than average Goth Community.
I love Goth Chicks!

Yes, I understand what "gothic" refers to, and it in fact derives it's name from the blending of Roman architecture and the creativity of the Visigoths. Gothic arcitecture was in its height in Europe from around the 15th century to the 17th. The "gothic" crowd today actually tries to be more Victorian era NW Europe in their styles... sometimes.
As usual, a group of people who don't have a clue.

Holy Crap!!!
Intelligent conversation in a movie thread... of all things
IMO
I don't know where the look came from... it's pretty depressing, can't for the life of me figure out how the Renaissance got associated with the look... Georgian Chanting does, dressing up in heavy cloth robes does... the movie 'Golem' does(a Gothic Horror)
ahwell... I'm just a baby boomer, the only 'look' I have to live down is the days of polyester and platform shoes
