I went and spent the money on a new camera. Er, well...a used camera.

I was looking at the pics in the FM forums and followed a link to a Canon G2 gallery. They looked great! I like the G2 shots I've seen much better than the later G-series cameras. So...

I went up on eBay and bought one. I got the camera, all the normal stuff, another new battery, the lens adapter, a 256MB CF card, and a case for $350. It's not a 300D, or a 10D, but hopefully, with care, I can get close to the same results.

At least, I'll be ready when spring rolls around.

Heard nothin but great things about canon cameras...just wish I had the money for a rebel :hail

Nothing wrong with the G2 (http://www.powershot.com/powershot2/G2/index.html)...I like that camera! It's not too far off from the S400, just that I have the DiGic chip and the LCD is fixed on mine. You probably have a better lens on the G2, also.

The swiveling LCD is extremely nice. One of the features I miss most off of my 5700 when shooting with the S400.
