For the past week or so I've been having an off and on problem with posting and replying to posts. Sometimes, when I click the submit button, I get a "No thread specified - returning to the previous screen" message (I don't remember the whole wording, but the first part is right). Is anyone else having this problem? It's happening with IE 6 on both Windows 98SE and XP systems.

Yep. It was doing that on me for a while.

Now, it's hanging for 10-15 seconds with each page load. It loads the logo and buttons at the top just fine, then stops.

Nope, I haven't had any problems so far.

No problems for me, either here at home or at college.

I've had that problem a few times. About 3-4 times I've gotten that message. Hmmm....

Nope... No viruses or spyware. Clean install on the 98 system and regular checks on the XP one. This is something forum-related...

It sounds more likely to be either for some reason your browser not handling the requests or cookies correctly, or a server-side issue.

Odd that so many of us haven't seen it. Maybe we are lucky.

Don't spose it could be a firewall?

I've had that problem several times using IE6 w/SP1 and with Mozilla. It seems to be a server problem and is not time of day related as it has happened at peak load and at no load times.

I have had the same problems as wazman and egarrard.

there was a thread in the photography section - an accident.

i have found that if i cant be bothered waiting for the page to loadm when i hit stop, most of it will appear.

I remembered what the rest of the message said:

"No thread specified - if you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster."

Haven't seen it today.

Update! It happened to me again just now. I was replying in the "There are comparable games to HL2 and Doom3" thread and it happened. When I went back, my reply was gone.

I got a screen print of the error. I'm attaching it now. If there's anybody out there who can help, please do so.

That's it. It just happened again in the "Modding killed the PC thread". I'm going to report this thread and see if it gets the mods/admins attention.

it is happening because the server is not processing requests properly i suppose. It has happened to me before on XP IE6/SP1

Its strange... is there any pattern to it, or similarity? Time, browser version, etc?
