So in Canadian Studies (the class I am currently in right now) we're doing immigration stories and I wanted to do French immigration to Canada at the turn of the century.
If anyone knows anything, personal relatives and can help me, please post.
^_^ many thanks

I think thats a tough topic for any of us to know. I think that your best bet would be to try and find some info on the net. You might get lucky!

yah, I did try the net but I really want a story about someone's life not about immigration policies and emigrations laws in Hungary.

Hey Jei,
Do you have a Hungarian Society you can contact in your area? There may be a commissioner or a community advocate there you can speak to. They could give you some leads, or maybe they might know some of the people in the community that would be more than willing to participate in your project, tell their stories, especially if you let them know it's for school.
Good luck in your search.

Between 1870 and 1914, 639,541 Hungarians emigrated, with 90% of these migrants going to the United States. A mere 2% or 8,000 Hungarians chose Canada as their destination. That's not many people, Jei. Try the links below. If you can contact them, you should be able to get all eht help you can. You also might get someone from Toronto to track down a contact address for Kanadai Magyarsag, their Hungarian newspaper.

These guys have a HUGE building on St. Clair Ave. West here in Toronto. I've driven past it many times and always see lots of activity around it. They have a restaurant on the lower level which looks inviting but we've never tried (yet) and a boxing ring in there that has sponsored matches too!
