I'll repost, in case you missed it in an earlier thread:

Hey Sherry - you don't know me, but... ;-)

Here's a suggestion for a future article:

Women in modern society (at least in developed countries) are beseiged with images, articles, ads, etc. from the media pelting them with the constant message "you're NOT good enough - try this product/diet/class/makeup/sex tip/whatever and your life will be just as good as our cover model".

Most guys on this board (I would estimate) have no idea just how difficult it is to be a sane female nowadays (in fact, most would say "sane female" is an impossibility).

I am very much in love, and at 34, am probably a bit older than most forum-ites. So I've had alot of "first-hand" experiences that have tempered my views of why women (at least in America) get into funks, constantly seek The Next Big Diet or Eyeliner, feel depressed or have lower self esteem, etc.

I'm not saying that EVERYBODY suffers from it, but it does seem to be more prevalent nowadays.

So, topic: what are your thoughts? Valid, or not? Why?

Later, and thanks for putting up with geeks like ourselves!

John

Wow! What a topic. And you know what? I do feel bombarded sometimes by all the hype.

Thank you for the idea, it's great :)

I did miss your posting along the way somewhere. Whoops!

Time to do some research...

The hype is what you make of it...life has a price, and it has rules. People chose to be "sucked" in. And its a snowballing effect...those with low self-esteeem and self worth or more likely to be susceptible to the pressures of society.

While this maybe not fair, I think an article from the female perspective would be very interesting.

You can fall into life's traps, or you can learn to identify them yourself, and decide how you want to react. And if it means getting every neon colored lipstick out there...then so be it.

I firmly believe the members of this forum are sometimes just as influenced by computer hardware and the computer revolution hype, as women are "bombarded" by media hype.

Its usually a matter of perspective...
