"BALTIMORE - A 12-year-old girl was beaten into a coma by a group of other girls and women after she kissed the boyfriend of another girl on a dare, police said.

Three adult women and two teenage girls have been charged in the beating of Nicole Townes, who remained in a coma Wednesday more than a week after the attack at a Feb. 28 party.

"I have seen people beaten to death, but not a child and not for no apparent reason," Detective Donny Moses said. "This is a hideous story."

The attack happened after an unidentified boy, also 12, was dared to kiss Nicole. After the kiss, his 14-year-old girlfriend attacked Nicole, and others joined in, beating the girl for at least 30 minutes.

Monique Baldwin, 36, and Erin Baldwin, 19, were charged with attempted murder and assault, said Moses, who said he didn't know the relationship between the two. Kenya Keene, 25, was charged with assault and conspiracy to commit child abuse.

Two unidentified teens, ages 13 and 14, were also arrested, but Moses said he did not know the specific charges against them.

The adults are also accused of giving false statements about what happened, telling authorities Townes fell and hit her head on a wall"

I have been saying sense day one that the world is getting worst everyday. Though no one believed me and I could care a less. I will let you all live in your fantasy world and when you all finally wake up you won't know what to do. I am sorry but you can't trust anyone. I mean no offense its just the truth.

Also in my opinion a 12 year old boy should not even have a girlfriend. I am sorry but in my opinion its wrong and if I was a parent that would be the way it goes but sense I am not having any kids I won't have this problem. Plus i don't think I would be a very good parent anyway and I bet I am right on that. I don't care if you all agree with me on that because its not like I want to be a parent anyway. I would never bring a child in the world of today. I rather die than do that. Seriously.

Though everyone will keep on living in there little fantasy world where everything is ok and nothing is happening to the world. Oh well to them because when they get the wake up call I won't be the one in trouble. They will be. To me it seems like most people will trust just about anyone but oh well to them. Let them do that. They will see that it will bite them right back in the butt sooner or later. I could care a less if they want to learn the hard way. I seen it happen before to many times and its just dum that it has to happen so many times. Human beings will never learn.

No offense to anyone and remember I didn't say everyone.

I don't think many would disagree with you, tim, just differ in the severity. You're right. 12-year-olds shouldn't have romantic attachments. But, that's what they see on TV. This case got out of hand. It's pretty obvious that there wasn't much adult supervision. We don't even know it the women were parents of the children involved. A very sad situation... :Nope

First... kiss on a dare... hardly a romantic attachment for the one girl. However, they do mention the "girlfriend" getting mad and starting everything.

Yes, this was a terrible situation. But how can you say the world is getting worse and worse, compared to the anarchy of 1000 years ago? Back then, you could in general kill someone (including your wife or child) and as long as your excuse was okay, you were good.

True but what about the endless cycle of people like this ? I didn't say everyone. No offense.

They should have hit the boy, not the girl.

However, there was a few adults and they should have stopped the fighting of 12 year old kids. Because they did not stop the fight and may have even tossed in a few blows of their own I'd give them all 1 year in jail and 5 years probation. If she dies and does not come out of the coma, then I'd up the 1 to 15 years and try the girls as adults.

If I was there I would have called the cops and told them everything. What is so dam hard about doing something this easy?

Kind of fishy...just what kind of party were these adults hosting anyways? 12 year olds start stealing kisses from one another when the horomones kick into puberty. Spin the bottle, for example.

But geez, what kind of adults would sit there through a dare and then participate in a situation that was obviously provocated :(?Bah. Don't blame the kids. Blame the adults showing bad example!

Or what kind of adults would just sit there and let it go on... This is why I fear for humanity...

Nobody should have been hit!!! It was only a harmless kiss, and what responsible adults would let 12-14 year olds have a party:confused: or let any violence take place?
