Hello. Im doing a major overhaul on my room and I forgot I had a lot of legos.... Well it turns out I have over 100 LBS of legos. But the problem is that they are dusty. Been sitting for while. I need to clean these before I put them up on ebay. How would the best way to clean these little things?

attach them onto boards and use some compressed gas?

Could be done, but thats over 50K peices though. What about using water? Like you know how miners use the screen and put the rocks on it and wash them that way?

I thought of suggesting that, but the drying would be a *****!

Dust comes off with water. Ill use a soap/water solution and slosh it around and then lay it on a screen ( like black pool screen) so the water can dry off. That would work?

Lay it on the mesh or something so it dries faster...

Know anyone with a pickup? Pour them out in the bed, wash them lightly with a hose, then let them dry in the sun.

Throw all the legos in a bucket. Hose them down and twirl them a bit. Put a filter or something on top of the bucket and then flip the bucket so all the water comes out. Then, lay down a big tarp and lay all the pieces out on it. Leave the tarp outside in the sun.

That should work.

I would say stick them in a washing machines and then use a shovel (the kind you use in a sand box/beach bucket) to get them all out. Then place them on a porch, patio, or somewhere that the sun can reach them to dry out.

use a hair dryer to speed up the drying process

Vacuum it. Put all the pieces together then use a vacuum cleaner (the small portable ones) and suck the dust right out. Radioshack has one of those vacuums for $24.99. Alot cheaper then buying 50 cans of compressed air.

A hair dryer will only make the room more dustier. Read my previous post. A vacuum cleaner will work the best in this situatuion

Well, a vacume woud be a good idea. Just make sure you get a filter or something to put at the suction part of the vacume. Just to make sure no pieces go flying up there.

That's why all the peices should be connected first :)

Ummm... do you have a pic of your Lego??

I'm still considering building a computer out of Lego. Problem is a need a lot of them to do it and buying that many retail is to expensive.

What are you trying to get for them? Considering they just sitting around I don't imagine they are that valuable to you right?

Please let me know how much you want for them.

Thanks!

Whoa thanks. I Tried each way that you mentioned and I wound up using a filter on a bucket to drain out the water. Worked like magic

Well I saw a few of these, but I have about the same as this person so Im shooting for the same amount

Have to remeber that Legos are not cheap. When I was younger thousands were spent on these legos which are not less than 1,000 opened up.

Ahh never mind... most of yours are the special pieces, I just want a big pile of bricks and a plate.

I think $600 is insane! I know they are expensive to buy, but still.

Not just for a railroad set LOL

Well on ebay a 75 lbs of bricks and people n such just went for $454. I have 100 lbs + Monorail + Train set.

I put the wrong link. That was meant to show you that THAT set goes for an insane amount of cash. I have that, just opened so I hope for a few extra bucks on that.

Here is the real link, sorry for the confusion

I think I'll call my roommate from school, Adam...he's all into Legos, has prob. more than you do now, but is always on the lookout for special pieces and stuff...needs more bricks and all, we were actually discussing this Wed. before I left...this auction may interest him greatly.

Yeah....I just realized something...that is going to cost so freaking much to send to someone....I just sent back my old power supply for RMA today....UPS ground shipping, was a little over 8 bucks for a little over 6 pounds....do the math. By my calculations...that's like what....approximately 133 dollars to send via UPS ground?

redphoenix
03-19-2004, 10:29 PM

Which should be more expensive yet....because there are like echelons of weight that they do scaling by...the higher you go...eventually you hit a single flat rate if I remember right. Who knows...doesn't matter much anyway, if someone will spend 700 dollars on Legos...they can def. afford the shipping.

Yeah LoL

The boxes weigh, 35lbs, 25lbs, 5lbs, 5lbs, 30lbs.

wow its at $550
