Could it have been staged for training of police on how to investigate wrecks??
The engine laying like that with no gouges in the ground like it rolled or slid If it just dropped straight down I think it wound have sunk in the ground more than it is. And the fact both both pieces of the car and the engine are all right side up kind of make me wonder.

I agree with you on this one. If you can't follow the speed or just showing off and going that fast... Good for you.

Normally, a wreck like that would leave people bleeding badly.
But there is no blood.
And the handbrake is up - Car probably put into a controlled slide into the tree.
And no gouges on the ground - engines are HEAVY.
Sure that speedo is not MPH?

The more I look at those pics the more I doubt it was a real accident. The car looks too perfectly damaged. Also the air bags would definetly have gone off. To me my guess is it was a training thing done with a previously wrecked car that they wrecked even more.

It's real. One can see a limb sticking out from one of the sheets. There appear to be two bodies coverd with the sheets. The car was airborn when it hit the tree. The height of the impact scar confirms that. I would guess the car was traveling around 180 KPH or more at impact. Since it was airborn the speedometer reading is going to be in error.

Limb? Can you give direction to where that might be?
I think its real too. I mean, the car hit the tree at a perpendicular angle. In more sporty cars like that, the front airbag wouldn't deploy when the car is hit from the side. Furthermore, by the time the front did hit something, the crash probably destroyed the impact sensors that set off the front bag.

Did anyone get a good look at how the tree bark was neatly sliced off the treetrunk?
WoW!
Terrible, terrible wreckage. Poor familes that would have to be notified :Crying.

if this was a real acicdent, they *would* have had my sympathy until I look at the car and decide it was probably being driven by some punk who keeps his stereo blasting and regularly drives dangerously without a care in the world. Sometimes, when you keep doing that, bad things happen.
Hey Tim - I thought you did not like Cars? What are you doing on Audi Forums?
Pretty Sick - they were obviously were fecking about.
A lseeson......:Nope

although it is not possible to have a high speed crash in singapore,
you've got to wonder how they get their cars in these strange situations.
Stormdrain - This is always funny. About as much as the car that ended up in a hotel lobby. Most crashes here are due to 'loss of control', 'loss of control', and so on.
In fact, almost had an accident in a taxi yesterday. Woman in station wagon tries to pull out in front of taxi going at 70km/h. Taxi driver toots horn. Recieves middle finger. Returns the favor. In singapore, a drivers worst fear is to lose face.

Okay, this scene happened in Portugal. Not sure yet of specifics. Supposedly not a staged accident scene.
The major problem I have, however, is the total lack of spilled fluids. Diesel and gasoline will evaporate, however they will leave very obvious patches of discoloration where they were present (oily residue). Plus, the engine would still have been turning when ejected from the front compartment, so one would expect a moderate amount of oil loss due to severed oil-coller lines, turbo oil lines, etc., and there is no evidence of this.
I'll keep researching.
Car, by the way, appears to be an Audi A3 1.8L turbo.

On the bright side, it looks like they can salvage the wheels and tires. :Blah

Looks to me like the handbrake is on. Also the door that is wraped around the tree has no broken glass around it at all. I've seen a viper split in half on a light post and trust me there was glass/fluid all over the place. I remember the guy passed me on the highway doing like 180-200km/h and 5 mins later I drove up to see his car split through the middle (he was dead btw). Some people are just stupid........it was pouring rain and there were huge puddles all over.
