View Full Version : Builing a new Magic the gathering Deck

I'm building a new Magic The Gathering deck. It doesn't have to be tournament legal as it is for fun.
Basically.... it is a All Artifact, Indestructable deck that cannot be the target of spells or abilites where I can't lose the game and my opponents can't win the game and I take control of all of their stuff.
Here is basically what is going in this deck
Microscinth Lattice (SP)
Platinum Angel
Darksteel Forge
Tower of Murmurs
Tower of Eons
Tower of Fortunes
Teferi's Puzzle Box
Bubble Matrix
Vexing Arcanix
Aladdin's Lamp
Artifact lands
Indestructable Artifact lands
Indestructable artifacts
Memnarch
Darksteel Collosus
Here is a breakdown of the cards
Microscinth Lattice - Turns everything to an artifact
Platinum Angel - You can't lose the game, your opponents can't win the game
Darksteel forge - All artifacts you control are indestructable (destroy spells and lethal damage don't kill them)
Tower of Murmurs - Pay 8 and tap... target opponent puts the top 8 cards of their library into their graveyard
Tower of eons - Pay 8 and tap... gain 10 life
Tower of fortunes - Pay 8, draw 4 cards
Teferi's Puzzle Box - At the beginning of each players draw step, that player puts the cards in his/her hand on the bottom of their library in any order, then draws that many cards.
Bubble Matrix - All damage dealt to creatures is reduced to 0
Vexing Arcanix - Pay 3 and tap: Target opponent names a card and then turns over the top card of their library. If it is that card, they put it in their hand... if not, it goes in their library and deals them 2 damage.
Memnarch - 1UU: Target permanent becomes an artifact in addition to its other types. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.) 3U: Gain control of target artifact. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)
Tell me if that is good or not. I need to make some money to buy some of these cards. The deck is almost complete.

Knowing I'd be playing with someone with such a deck. I wouldn't even play. Playing a game vs a deck like this is completely pointless and funless.
I'm sorry, but this is like putting a Viper vs a Neon...

And you wanna know who we can all blame my deck on?
Mattel!
see. I know I want to make this deck but I really still think that this is a prime example that it has gone to hell. Most of those cards are from the Mirrodin Block. Overpowered.... yes.
And we wonder why I got my butt whipped when I played people who had these types of decks.
Oldschool cards don't cut it much anymore. All I see when I play Magic now is these new ones.
Yes, it won't be any fun to play against and that is one reason I am going to make this. Basically so I can piss off these people who use these cards and maybe they'll listen to me.
All of them are like... Whoa, those are some old cards, then procede to beat my arse into the ground with a 11/11 indestructable artifact that cost 3 colourless to put out because they have cards that make their artifacts less to play. Did I mention it has trample.
here is its stuff
Trample. Darksteel Colossus is indestructible ("Destroy" effects and lethal damage don't destroy it.) If Darksteel Colossus would be put into a graveyard from anywhere, reveal Darksteel Colossus and shuffle it into its owner's library instead.

People still play Magic? I haven't played that since like 1995... I had no idea it was still popular... I don't even remember how to play it. I do know where my cards are, though. None of them are worth anything, of course.

It's more popular that ever!
But i know what you mean xxFaeryonfireXX... The morridin pack is very strong with those abilities. Which is why i bought a tournament pack and a few boosters. But only to add to my old good pack.
Me and my friends still play with Mercadian masc and taht era of MTG. With a few new cards.

If I could afford it I'd buy them from you.
I have one pack of Mercadian, 1 pack of invasion, 1 pack of 7th, 1 pack of 8th, a ton of visions, Mirage, Stronghold, Tempest, 6th, 5th, 4th, revised, weatherlight, some legends, some legions, some fallen, some plains shift, some iceage, I got a bunch of mirrodin and Darksteel. I got some other stuff too.
I missed a whole bunch of the series because I could not find anyone to play with.

They're not the first edition or anything... I was only into it for about a year or so. They're in my parents' basement... I think... I'll have to look for them and see what I've got.

I don't care where they are fun... I collect them.
Hmmmz... That is what I used to be like. I hadn't played in so long. Everything has seriously gone to hell. The Artifacts are no longer brown..... they look almost like plains (white) cards.

I'm going to post a comparison between the old artifacts, new artifacts and Plains cards.
Also... you'll notice that the design went to hell too.

I don't know how to play magic, but one of my college buddies plans on trying to go pro with his new deck he assembled which sounds kind of like yours. I say hes just a lamer but he swears it'll turn out great. -_- There are no rules against making a deck that is too good?

Actually... alot of the cards are banned and yes, there is such thing as a deck that is too good because it probably has tournament illegal cards.
Mine does.
