The top 10 places America goes to have fun (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html)
1. Las Vegas (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#vegas)
2. Iowa State Fair (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#iowa)
3. Times Square (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#newyork)
4. Cedar Point Amusement Park (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#ohio)
5. Cape Cod (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#massachusetts)
6. River tubing in Texas (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#texas)
7. Audubon Zoo New Orleans (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#neworleans)
8. Disneyland (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#california)
9. National Air and Space Museum (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#virginia)
10. Telluride, Colorado (http://www.usaweekend.com/04_issues/040516/040516travel_fun.html#colorado)
Brandi and I have been 1,2,5,9 and 10 and without a doubt I would say that the Iowa State Fair was the most enjoyable followed by Cape Cod. Next would be the National Air and Space Museum followed by Telluride and then Vegas.
I wonder why Disneyworld didn't make the list.
If you like Air Museums the United States Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio is a must and the Strategic Air Command Museum outside of Omaha, Nebraska is also a must see.
Others are:
The Museum of Transportation in St. Louis
The Spencer Shops of the Southern Railroad at Spencer, North Carolina
The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. Maryland
The Altoona Railroader's Memorial Museum and Horseshoe Curve at Altoona, PA. Don't miss the Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site at Gallitzin, PA which is nearby.
If you like old tractors of all types I recommend Mehmke’s Museum at Great Falls, MT.
And of course the Smithsonian.
Other places I love are Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks.
Mount St. Helens Volcano in Washington and Crater Lake in Oregon.
In Hawaii I recommend the National Cemetary of the Pacific and The Arizona Memorial.
There are too many things in the Washington D.C. area to list, just see everything but make an extra special effort to see the Vietnam Memorial Wall and Arlington National Cemetary.
In the Southeast around Atlanta I recommend The Cyclorama and Kennesaw National Battlefield and Cemetary.
Up in The Chattanogga, Tennessee area I recommend the Chickamauga National Battlefield and the Tennessee Aquarium.
I could keep going but this would turn into a very long post. Any of you have places you would like to recommend here in the U.S. or anywhere else?
