Cannes - American filmmaker Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, a savage indictment of United States President George Bush's handling of Iraq and the war on terrorism, was cheered and applauded at the Cannes film festival on Monday.
Film critics were warm in praise of the controversial director, who later called in a news conference for America to pull out of Iraq.
"It is such a total mess. Their way of doing things has offended so many people," Moore said.
The Oscar-winning director's fast-moving film is a telling work of propaganda by a moviemaker whose mission to deride Bush exudes from every frame.
It focuses on how America and the White House reacted to the September 11 hijacking attacks and traces links between the Bush family and prominent Saudis, including the family of Osama bin Laden,
"We had a president who was asleep at the wheel," Moore said.
Fahrenheit 9/11 has already whipped up an international media storm after Walt Disney barred its Miramax film unit from releasing such a politically polarising work in a US election year.
"I hope it comes out in America this year," said Moore.
"I do think it is important to care at times like this. This time I was the straight man and Bush wrote the funniest lines," he added of a film that constantly mocks the president. "The fish rots from the head down."
British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Bush's closest war ally, gets only a brief mention in the film, but Moore said after the screening: "What is he doing hanging out with a guy like George Bush? I have never understood that."

Huh? How was the Disney issue his doing? They lied to him after promising him the movie rights and were worried about tarnishing their "Image" of a great and kind company.

No, no, no my friend, it is actually quite the opposite. Moore himself said he concocted that story to get press about his movie. When it comes from the horse's mouth, you can't argue about that.

Really? Hahahah...right on. But then why did Disney come out and say they wouldn't host his movie because of their image and reputation? They did publically declare that on the news when I was in Florida a week and a 1/2 ago.

I see you haven't read the thread on that subject on here. Disney told him over a year ago that they were not distributing the film yet he lied about it to garner promotion and to cause problems for Disney.

If Moore publically admitted to this, why is it not on his website? If he had no shame in admitting it, he is the type of guy who would post it and I see it nowhere.

Also this:
As reported in yesterday's Style section, the movie's current distributor, Walt Disney, has blocked the film's release, citing its controversial nature. In the wake of the movie's uncertain distribution status, the release date -- originally slated for July 4 -- remains unknown. But Bob and Harvey Weinstein, who head Disney-owned Miramax Pictures, are currently in negotiations with Disney to buy the film and release it as individual producers or through a third party. At a news conference Monday, Moore asserted, "This film will be seen before the election."
So if they are in talks with Disney, then there is obviously some rights involved that Disney still owns and therefore are trying to be negotiated and thus it does not sound like a sham to me.
If he admitted it, why would it not be said in the Washington post that was printed yesterday?

He's not going to post anything that makes him out to be the pathological liar that he is. The man has told so many lies and half-truths that no one that is the least bit informed on any of the subjects that Moore works on takes him seriously. He may be the darling of the liberal left but to the rest of the mainstream world he is nothing but a blowhard liar.

Yes, ok but why did he supposively admit it to the Los Angeles Post but it would not be stated anywhere else? There is a reveiw from the Los Angeles Post about the movie yesterday as well and it says nothing about him admitting that?? The Washington Post would have printed that for sure but they didnt so sorry but I don't believe it man.

And about that website, the person who runs that is just Micheal Moore's doppleganger, that's all. He is like Moore but instead researches on him and reports of wrong doings about him. They hate him, oh well. Moore tells it as others cant. He has the money and ability to do the research and show us something without fear of reprocussions and for that, he is ostracized. Few have the guts to do it.

Now, before everyone starts all this French bashing, remember this. There would BE no United States of America if France had not saved the U.S.'s arse in the Revolutionary War with their outstanding naval support.

Actually to the rest of the world he is a bit of a star and sells millions of copies of his books. His shows are syndicated across Europe as well.
If England is the Liberal left, how come we can fit into the coalition of the willing so seamlessly?

That guy's website is run on an agenda of hating Michael Moore. that's cool but iis as tedious as you find Moore. Sure he is not always right and he is clever at editing but that doesn't stop his source material from speaking for itself.
