A real headache, not just the metaphorical one caused by my late, demised thread (if you don't know, don't go looking for it; it's got nothing worthwhile in it).

I've got a real, pounding, head slammer. :banghead

And I can't get rid of it.

I can only take Tylenol (acetaminophen), which is doing nothing for me. Due to some of my heart-related medications, asprin, ibuprofin (my previous favorite for headaches), naproxin sodium, or any other NSAID (non-steroidal antiinflamitory drug) is off limits, as they could actually cause a reaction which could lead to internal bleeding.

I tried to take a nap (in fact, put all the kids down as well) but it apparently used sleep time as an opportunity to bring in it's friends, storm the beaches, and entrench.

I give up. I'm going to go shoot myself in the head. :surrender

Can you take Darvocet (Darvon + Acetaminophen)? It requires a prescription because it is a controlled substance but it will work.

Yes. Actually, I have open prescription refills for Darvocet and Lortab, but I let my supplies run out and did not get them refilled. I don't particularly want to be "dependant" on or addicted to pain killers, so I usually do without.

However, this headache is making me rethink my position.

I may take a short drive to Walgreen's later and have them fill a Darvocet bottle for me if this doesn't go anywhere.

Well, that's a possible solution. However, I'm starting a job with mandatory incremental drug testing in a state (Nebraska) that does not have a medical marijuana law. So, even if I wanted to...

Besides, I'm on a diet, and we all know what smoking does to your resolve when it comes to food...

Tylenol = The SUCK!
Ibuprofin = The BEST!

If your going to shoot yourself in the head mighty as well take some Ibuprofin so it don't hurt. :p

Yeah... it's legal in the US dependant on the work field. In this case, because I will be armed and state bonded to be so, my position qualifies for mandatory testing.

No biggie, I haven't smoked for years. Never really had a taste for the "chemically altered state of mind."

God, you should have seen me, 24 hours out of open heart surgery, refusing morphine because I didn't like the way it messed up my thought processes. I'm a legend in the cardiac ward; I still go back to visit the great people who took such wonderful care of me during my recovery. I'm told that most people in my situation spend the first 96 hours after surgery in a drug-induced stupor.

Good on ya!

I rarely smoke nowadays but my hair is so long that it probably still has traces from 1990 :spin :spin

Remember the old rumour about Acid? It collects at the base of your Spine!

My mum had major Heart surgery when she was very littel - this was back in the 1950's when it was a huge thing to have. She was actually staying in one of the Prison Guards houses at Dartmoor ad the Air was pure up there to assist in her recovery - she has a huge scar across her back - I imagine yours is smaller?

She was told never to fly or exert herself overly but she's like me (indeed my rebellious nature is all her fault! :D ). I have pushed her up Mt Snowdon, got her a flight ina Chipmunk when I was in the ATC and she managed to make it all the way to Oz to visit!

:luxhello :luxhello

Yeah, back in the 50's hear surgery was just really being pioneered, and it was more common that the back was used for entry as opposed to the chest, especially on children.

Mine is on my chest. If I had my digital cam, I'd take a pic for you. Probably 12-13 inches (32-33cm) top to bottom.

Some of my martial arts buddies have suggested that I call it my "ninja sword scar" and attribute it to being attacked by ninjas whilst training high in the mountains in Japan under a secret sensei. You see, this will lend credibility to my story when I ressurect the long-lost somesuch ryu kenjutsu and declare myself soke (headmaster). :lmao

There was a Ninja "master" in the local rag last month that caused much hilarity in our dojo - he claimed to have also trained as an Apache Spirit Warrior and used his Ninja training to stand in Kamae for 48 hours on a volcano rim .
