You can all check out my site at www.pbase.com/ianbmw . My macro section was taken with kit lense and is pretty decent i believe. My question is this......the only other lense i have is a 100-300 IS.....and I was wondering if I should invest money in another lense...like a L .....or should I get a Canon D60 with Infra Red and take some kicking B&W. :banghead

I have the 100mm f2.8 Macro, the 24-70mm f2.8 L zoom and the 70-200mm f2.8 L IS zoom. I would recommend all of these and I would start with the 70-200mm L IS. This lens is as sharp as a tack. Check this thread (http://www.3dgameman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25189) for some of my photos. Posts #1 and #16 were shot using the 70-200mm lens. The rest were shot using the 24-70mm L zoom.
There are more of my pictures here. (http://www.3dgameman.com/forums/showthread.php?p=365013#post365013)
The 100mm Macro is also a superb lens as it is as sharp as the 70-200mm. Check out the bee macro shot in post #54-#58 of this thread (http://www.3dgameman.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17332&page=3&pp=25)

I've seen them sold modified, for astrophotography use.
The kit lens is really mediocre. Ask Ed. That's why he got the 24-70L. What lens you should get will depend on what you want to shoot most. What do you think it might be?

Well I love macro and portrait so i feel i dont need another tele. I just want to say i dont knock on the kit lense as it has by far been the BEST $99 lense EVER. But i am looking for more and I believe a L lense will satisfy me. Is the f2.8 worth the $500 jump in price to the f4.0? I mean I could buy alot of things with $500.
*EDIT*
I for got to say the lense I am looking at. The Canon 17-40L f/2.8 or f/4.0. One is $1199 other $689.
