Canada is 137 years young. What are you doing on July 1st?
To find out more about Canada Day: click here (http://www.canadascapital.gc.ca/canadaday/home_e.asp)
"The year 2004 marks the 137th celebration of Canada Day, which commemorates the day that Canada became a nation. The holiday is observed on July 1 (unless that date falls on a Sunday, in which case Canada Day is observed the following day).
On July 1, 1867, the British North America Act united the British colonies of Upper Canada, Lower Canada, New Brunswick, and Nova Scotia into "one dominion under the name of Canada." These four colonies became Canada's first four provinces; Lower Canada was renamed Quebec, and Upper Canada was renamed Ontario.
The July 1 holiday was known as Dominion Day until October 27, 1982, when an act of parliament established the name Canada Day. The new name symbolized a step away from Canada's colonial past. The holiday had also sometimes been known as First of July or Confederation Day. Like Fourth of July festivities in the United States, Canada Day is celebrated with such summer pleasures as picnics, barbeques, and fireworks.
The name Canada derives from an Iroquoian word for "village," kanata, that French explorers heard used to refer to the area near present-day Quebec City. Today, Canada comprises ten provinces and three territories. '~source (http://www.infoplease.com/spot/canada1.html)

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

That's not the Oh, Canada...
The real version is french only and was written in 1880... but this is the version most popular as it truly shows Canada as being a Multicultural country..
O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love
in all thy sons command.
Car ton bras sait porter l'épée
Il sait porter la croix!
Ton histoire est une épopée
Des plus brillants exploits.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
When that version is played I feel Canadian (being French Canadian) the other version makes me feel like an outsider seeing as english is not my language. Just a thought..:)
You guys in Toronto probably only hear the bilingual version during Hockey Games ;)

Doesn't matter what your language is man. We are all Canadians and we all come in many shapes, sizes, and skin pigmentations. The anthem stand for us all, regardless of language. Proud to be Canadian eh!?

Lady C and I have our own little Canada day, (of course, it really should be Dominion Day) and Indepence Day celebration.
On July the 5th, our first born has her birthday; 1 + 4 = 5, get it? Lady C went into labour at about 10PM on the 3rd... she was so keen on having a baby on her American holiday, but the little girl decided it was right for a compromise :spin
