I'm going on 30, and I still have mine, although that is to change in the near future.
Turns out one (upper right) had a flaw in the enamel that allowed it to decay from the inside. Looked fine on the outside. Until I was chewing on an almond and it shattered, because it was hollow. So, I've got half of that one left, and the other three are all fine. Need to get in to the dentist (who is going to have a fit, because I haven't seen a dentist since I was 14) to have it extracted.

The wisdom teeth all are under my gums still and as you can see they are in a direct path with my other teeth.Only one phrase in my mind can be used to discribe this chaos.
Oh noes!

You sound like me. I hate the dentist.
I still have all of my wisdom teeth but I lost a couple of molars due to bad fillings. That's why I hate dentist.
BTW Eire, when you go to the dentist, just before he starts work on you, reach over and grag him by his crotch contents and say, "We are not going to hurt one another are we, Doc?" :Holy Crap

I got all four of mine pulled when I was in high school. They put me under and cut them out (they were still under the gum), and when I woke up, I went home and slept. Took about a week for the holes to heal - they gave me this little syringe thing to squirt water in the holes - but otherwise it really didn't hurt that much and it was very quick and easy.

I still have all my Wisdom Teeth....my mouth was big enough for them so they just moved on in and took up residence...
BUT, I did have a tooth pulled last October. A back molar. It needed either a root canel or it needed to be pulled. I took the later due to cost....
I was shaking like a leaf in the chair..but the Oral Surgeon just numbed me up and yanked it out.
You have to be careful after your teeth are pulled or you will get what they call "Dry Socket". No smoking, or drinking from a straw for a few days. I didn't have a problem...but I have heard folks who had it. Not pretty...and it is painful.
You get knocked out when they do your wisdom teeth....you will be sore for a few days...but it will be over before you know it!

Oh, dear lord...
If I say anything about this, I'm going to be in so much trouble...
I'm biting my tongue so hard right now...
Oh, but she leaves herself wide open...
I say something here, I won't live through the night...
But the temptation is so strong...

My top molars were pulled to allow those wisodom teeth in and take their place, the bottoms were taken out however. With the bottom right side they sliced open the outer gum and used a drill to go into the side of the wisdom tooth. Then a chisel was inserted and twisted to split the tooth in two. Afterwards the tooth was taken out in one piece at a time. Then they stiched up my gum with 4 stiches.
I also had a nice root canal with 4 roots in it. I had to go for a total of 15 hours for that tooth and no matter how much numbing they gave me, the roots never froze. So when he inserted those little guitar string files into my roots to yank the nerves out, well I felt it like feeling of when your gonna DIE....lol. God damn, I could feel the blood rush out of my head followed by that faintness and cold sweats. That was pure hell and I would not wish it upon my worst enemy.
Oh, existenz...you'll be fine man. It's quick and painless. Pray however, never to have a root canal! N E V E R !!

When I was in Highschool I had all 4 of mne cut out, and they put you under so you don't feel a thing. The worst part is not being able to eatvery well for the following couple of days. I remember waking up and not even realized they had started let alone were finnished.
Im starting to get mine... damn things...

No need to fear :)
I'm 35 now and I had 3 of the remaining 4 pulled just a couple of years ago.
MY ADVICE: make sure you go to an oral surgeon to have it done, I had the first one pulled by a dentist, which was a huge mistake, I was awake the entire time and the ordeal lasted 2 hours (I kid you not) when I had the 3 remaining pulled it was like "Ok your going to start to go to sleep" and then it was "Ok lets take you to the recovery room" talk about trippy, I don't even remember blinking, it was like I was staring at the wall inside the surgery room and like only 1 second passed between them telling me I was going to sleep and then telling me I had to get up to go to the recovery room.
You'll be Ok :)
You Americans are lucky - Gas is rare in the UK - mostly just injections.
I have a double whammy of bad luck. All my Molars are cracked - it is a genetic disorder whereby the back teeth's Enamel never formed properly and is "Soft" I basically have to have a filling each trip. Paradoxically, the front teeth are perfect
I'm also higly tolerant of the Injection as well so even after a full shot I can still feel the drill.
Fortunately, my dentist taught me some relaxation exercises which mean I can detach myself from the pain
:Nope

you just got novicane (not sure if that is spelled corectly) then, that probably sucked. I don't remember a thing from the time I got the injection until I woke up when it was all done.

I thought novicane was the stuff that they gave you a shot of, like when they do fillings and pull regular teeth?

To tell the truth I am not sure.
All I know is that I have a nice Gold tooth now due to my incompetent (Former) Dentist allowing the stuff to drip on my live nerve which caused it to die. Fast forward 2 weeks of agonising pain,a proto-stomoch Ulcer due to the ibuprofen taken to control the pain and 3 hours of Root Canal which he had the gall to charge for, I had to have a Cap.
I chose Gold, not for the bling but because it is softer than enamel and as I grind my teeth it leads to less headaches

Down boy. Resist the temptation. Just becuase she leaves it open as wide as she did doesn't mean you should jump right in. ;)
