:spin I picked up my new '04 I4 Accord SE sedan on Wednesday night of last week. :spin

I got the SE package with fog lights and aluminum wheels, rear lip spoiler and the 3M clear bra (http://cms.3m.com/cms/US/en/2-168/clelFFC/view.jhtml). As part of the deal I had the steel wheels and wheel cover's thrown in for winter duty. :D Also, I have the factory 6-disc in dash cd changer and all the mounting gear in a box (I don't have that many cd's :p ).

Excellent choice in cars. She is a beauty! :santa :santa

The car looks great, from the rear though, the rear dip spoiler makes it look like a saab though. :)

Thanks guys... I was looking for a family vehicle that was sporty and reliable. Lets hope our friends in Ohio build good Accords. :D

Originally I wasn't too keen on the styling at the back but the low-key spoiler does change the appearance.

Yes, it does change the hole appearance of the back. i like the new "bublier" shape, than it had some years ago. All you need now are some 20" rims :D

Very nice. It does look like a Saab 900 or what is now the 93 from the back. Either way a very safe, well built car with good fuel economy to boot.

Nice!

Interestingly here in Oz, we have 2 versions of the Accord -the one like yours dubbed the "US" and the "Euro" version which is smaller.

Do you have that?

Honda's are nice car's! :bounce

They last a LONG time too! My sister in law has a 13 year old Accord and she says she will keep it till it dies on her. The only major repair she had done was replacing the A/C when it went out last year. She paid $850.00 to fix that. She had too...she lives in Houston TX. Other than minor repairs that is it.

Enjoy your new car! My next one may be a Honda of some sort!

Ya, the the Auz Accord "US" is like my accord and the "Euro" is like the Acura TSX.

Is Acura Honda then?

I prefer the Euro model because I like smaller cars but yours is nice as well

Clever advertising.

Here cars like BMW are overpriced because they are "European" _ Hilairious really as the 3 series is made in SA

I know what you mean, my new Japanese Accord was made in Ohio USA and the Honda Civic and Honda Pilot (SUV) are made 20min from my house...

Just think the engine for the European (BMW) MINI are made in Brazil by a Chrysler/BMW joint operation.

Clever advertising.

Just a quick update:

As far a fuel economy it looks like the first fill up netted 8.6L/100km or about 33mpg (mostly city). I imagine that'll go up when the car's got a few more miles on the clock... the car is rated for City/Highway 9.8 / 7.1.

The car has a nice firm ride reminiscent of smaller cars I've owned and the motor is really sweet when the revs start to climb.

There seems to be lots of low-end torque and the i-VTEC engine can really be felt when going from cruising speed to passing.

Yup, those are sweet :D

My mother has a 1993 Honda Accord LXI, we went a bit up north on a photo taking trip and she gave the car a real thrashing, never had fix or replace anything other than wiper blades, oil, coolant, cam belt (which should be replaced at 100k km in most cars). Its still a very nice car despite its age.

So [I]how{/I] is it on the highway? :devil

It'll keep up to traffic on the "400" series of highways here in southern Ontario. The locals will know what I mean. :Holy Crap

My car is still being baby'd in the garage right now... around 1800km (1000miles) on it.

I love the 5-std auto tranny in the Accord too.

Having just got back from a camping trip with our other car ('98 Malibu) I can really tell the difference the extra gear makes. The Honda is much smoother and quicker to down-shift during highway passing.

It's still nice having the Chevy though... something to do battle in the shopping mall parking lots. :D

That's a Really nice ride :Thumb

I'm mostly a Toyota guy after owning a 1994 Camry (daughter's inheriting that one - Insurance :shocking :Crying), a couple of 4-Runners (1997 & 1998 - '97 got ripped off - lousy on the highway, crummy mileage) and now a 2002 Lexus Rx300 (really nice).

Frankly I'm getting tired of Toyotas and will be getting an Accord EX-V6 sometime mid October (maybe an '05) for my wife. I much prefer driving the 2004 Accord over the Camry, Altima, or Mazda-6. The Honda certainly looks sexier than the Toyota or Altima, but the Mazda comes close in looks.
American cars are out for me having owned way too many that could barely hold together for the first 4 years. European cars? ... $$$!!.

As an aside, just heard on the news yesterday there is a recall out for 2002-2004 Accords. Might want to look into that. Nothing major I think since the Accords are very mature cars. Give your dealer a call though.

CyberGuy, you'll love the power of the v6 Accords ... some people have posted low 14sec quarter mile times with 'em... who would have thought of taking an Accord to the strip?? The power is part of the reason for the recent recalls that affect the V6 with the Auto tranny... some sort of fix for the 2nd gear in the tranny. My I4 doesn't have enough power to break the tranny though. :p

You'll definitely notice a firmer ride with the Accord over your previous Toyota's.

How has your car been so far?

Dad's after a new car and he was keenly looking at the NZ version of the Acura TSX until he noticed he didn't like the shape of the bonnet...

So we'd be looking at the normal accord now, it would be the standard Auto although I'd push for the foglamps... It would have to be the V6 version too.

So yeah, any problems or things that annoyed you?

Mechanically the car has been flawless. It currently has 27,000km's and is averaging about 36mpg or 7.8L/100km.

There are two things that I've noticed kinda bug me:
1. A headliner rattle drives me nuts but I haven't had time to let the dealership have a look at. I've heard other people have had the same problem too...

and

2. The ride is a little harsh. Not firm, but harsh over smaller bumps. Being a family sedan I would have thought Honda could have smoothed out the bumps without sacrificing handling. My last car was a 1999 Saturn SL1 that actually rode smoother than the much larger Accord.

I did rectify one other concern... that being body roll. I replaced the stock 14mm rear sway bar with the 17mm Acura TL rear sway bar. :)
