Going under the needle(s)

well... im basically cleared from my family doctor to get a tattoo.

i am a keloid by birth, so i scare more then an average person.

we had to do a test to see if its possible, so i went upto the hospital a few weeks ago, and they cut a small flesy part of my arm open with a scalple to see if it scared bad or not.

it didnt :bounce so im clear to get a tattoo, now just to decide on a good design i can live the rest of my life with :thumb


im open to suggestions

Its good you can get a tattoo, congrats. Get something that means alot to you.

Something that is your original idea and has a deep seated ideal or significance for you. So when you look at it, it reminds you of something of importance in your life. Just don't get something too intricate in design, otherwise it will look like a blur in 10 to 20 years time.

Go to Smiling Buddha and get Jefferies to do it. He is expensive man but oh so worth it. He's a master with tat's and if you like traditional Japanese designs, he is the man as well. I am getting mine finished in Edmonton at the end of this month. My friend Steve started it and will finish it finally after 15 hours of needle. Only another 6 or so to go. Keep us posted man.

It only hurts when they do the outline. The color didn't seem to go as bad on me. I would like to get it re-inked as 9 years later some of the color is fading a bit.

oh dont worry, there will be pictures, but i had a few watercooling problems and i had to take care of that before i could get my tattoo, for some reason, a new pump is more important then a tattoo :P

but neway. basically all i could come up with is that skull/gun with the words "Rock'n'Roll Will Never Die" rounded over and underneith it.

still got a few weeks to decide :)

Whatever you do, get something original that you will be proud to show. I hate people who get the chinese letters or barb wire, its so out done. Dont be getting fat, building muscle, or losing weight either. Ive seen someone ruin their tat's that way.

its pretty much decided that i am going to get it in the next 2 weeks, and its the DOA skull/run i am getting.

The majority of people that get tattoos get them because 1)-toughens them up emotionly. These people are usually weak and insecure in nature and they need a tattoo to say 'I'm tough'- give me a break!! :rolleyes: 2)-they are addicts. These are people that start off with getting one tattoo (usually because of reason #1) and then they become addicted to body art that they have the majority of their bodies covered in tattoos. 3)-Emotional Insecurity. They are in general individuals with few or no friends. They figure that if they get a tattoo, they will get acceptance buy the 'in' crowd.
All in all, the reasons for getting a tattoo are all psycological and mostly involve insecurity, my advice is - DON'T DO IT!, as then you are advertising it! If you absolutely must have a tattoo, then make sure that you get it in a place that is covered up, as a lot of employers will not hire you if you sport those 'tough' tattoos. There is nothing worse than losing out on a $75,000 a year job because you have a tattoo that says "F--k the World" on your forearm. In most scenarios, it more matters on how you represent the firm, company, agency, or Government that you are applying for, rather than your education for the job in question. Just think about it!! Remember, it's permanent!! Again, sorry if I ticked anybody off, as I know there are a lot of you that have tattoos.

bah, im not taking offence to that, every1 has an opinion.

i want a tattoo not for any of those reasons.

but newho, my mommy wants me to get a small tattoo before i get that big one just to make sure that my keloid is fine, and if its small it wont be that bad if it scars bad. and shes paying for it, so im not complaining, im going this weekend to get it, so ill take pics :)

you dont need a reason to get a tatoo...thats just bogus. you can get a tatoo for someone you want to remember, you can get a ttatoo cuz you were part of something you want to share with other people. i;ve seen jesus tatoos, ive seen devil tatoos. some people like to express thereselves in a way that cannot be removed (actually it can but u know what i mean) im a huge j.r.r. tolkein fan, so i get his initials on my shoulder...am i an addict?no. am i insecure? no. am i weak? no. i just like his ork so much i pay him a little respect and get his initials on me...nothing HUGE...but i feel its the right thing to do to honor him. you could use that for anyone, god, friend, wife, gf, bf, favorite artist...anything. it doesnt mean your insecure. it emans you are willing to take a lil' pain, and part of your body, to show everyone around you that you respect that person/thing. thats the way i look at it anyways.

they are...but you dont need them. its like living, you dont need a reason to live, but it makes your life alot better once you get a reason to live. i for one would feel weird saying "i got a tatoo cuz....i dunno" i'd rather have a reason. but some people just dont feel like they have to justify anything they do to anyone...so more power to them. i'm that way on a few subjects...but i like to have a reason to back me up most of the time.
