It's too early to know for sure but Jeanne may impact Florida much like Frances. I read a statement that this hurricane season was going to be more normal than the past two decades.
It seems that for the past 20 - 25 years there actually has been fewer than normal storms. I remember as a kid that every year at this season we always had many days of heavy rain from tropical storms. They called the phenomena the "September Gale".
Since the Southeast and the East Coast depend on these storms for about half of the water, the higher number of storms is actually a good thing but I'll bet the people in Florida would disagree.

And the people in New Orleans, if this article (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040915/ap_on_re_us/vulnerable_new_orleans_3) is true and happens... :noway

The article is true. I've been in New Orleans during a heavy thunderstorm and watched the water rapidly rise. It's not a matter of "if" but "when".
Goodness!
There's me sitting in a country in a drought

New Orleans has to be pretty much a ghost town now, I live about 60 miles from N.O (in Baton Rouge), and it's impossible to get anywhere in a reasonable amount of time because all of the major roads heading away from New Orleans (in any direction) are packed with cars trying to leave. The interstate is bumper-to-bumper traffic for miles (as far as I could see). At least I know all the shortcuts and ways around it; that's the good thing about living anywhere a while.

I always wanted to see New Orleans......I hope not much damage is done there with Ivan heading their way...
I always wanted to go to Mardi Gras, get beads, get wild for a while, and has some crawfish....
Looks like Ivan will be making landfall sometime tonight....
