I sooooo want em'.

How many thousands will they be?

The D1X is $9900 here(body only).

Seemed to do that pro' navy photographer just fine. (The navy gave him the gear, his own camera was 13 years old).

Nice, but it probably costs more than most humans can afford......and it doesn't even take Canon lenses :Crying

Nikon D2X CMOS sensor made by Sony: ~source (http://www.dpreview.com/news/0409/04091701nikond2xsony.asp)

Thanks to Rob Galbraith for the tip-off on this interesting news, according to Japanese website Nikkei Electronics Online the 12.4 megapixel CMOS sensor used in the Nikon D2X is made by Sony. While not a huge surprise (as Sony were the manufacturer of the CCD sensors used in previous Nikon digital SLR's) it does show that Sony are now capable of producing professional quality CMOS sensors for digital SLR's. It's unclear however if this is an exclusive agreement between Sony and Nikon or if this sensor or Sony's CMOS technology could make its way into other manufacturesr cameras (like the D100's CCD did).

I thought it was interesting that Nikon switched from CCD to CMOS. (Maybe the Canons really did look better... :noway)

Could also be that CMOS is less expensive to manufacture when you start taking about camera's with extremely high MP size.

More probable that a CCD of that size might not be as avaliable as a CMOS.

I don't think that it's lack of ability to use Canon lenses is a bad thing.... :taunt
