Im ready to move on from using open eared headphones my whole life, to using closed ear headphones.

Im looking at the Sennheiser HD280 PRO headphones. I see that the HD515 model is priced the same.

Which one is better?

These headphones seem like a great pair. For $100 and the specs, they look like a much better value then BOSE Tri Port headphones.

What do you audiophiles think?

Are there any better phones out there for STRICTLY $100 or less that are better then the Sennheiser?

I would recommend that you go to a store and try them. The same speaker/headphones will sound different to different people. You need to see which one sounds good to you.

Unless you're going to be recording something live, why not just stick with the open ones if you like them?

Well I did try searching everywhere locally, but I cant find the HD280 PRO model anywhere. I can only find the HD202 and HD570 series.

I would have stuck with the open, regular $15 headphones.....but after trying on some BOSE tri-port headphones, I was blown away by the sound difference! It sounded as if I had a subwoofer punching behind me with deep bass, and I was hearing things in the music that I had never heard before! Regular headphones are just too flat sounding and I always have to lower my volume big time when I am sitting in the computer lab at school because open headphones dont trap the music well.

There is a world of a difference with closed open-air headphones.
