HOUSTON -- A two-year-old was shot by his four-year-old brother, who may not have known the difference between a real gun and toy one, police said. The two-year-old, who suffered a single gunshot wound to the temple, was in critical condition Saturday night in hospital.
Sgt. Cameron Grysen said the boys had been arguing when the younger one threw a toy at his brother. The mother thought the boys had returned to their room, but they had instead gone to her room, where the older boy took a loaded gun from the woman's purse. "The four-year-old was angry. ... He went and got the gun, put it to his brother's head and shot the gun," Grysen said.

Another example in my opinion that guns are foolish items. There are no benefits. Regardless of people and their stupidity, without that gun being present, it would have never happened. Humans are just not smart or responsible enough to possess them.

Humans are just not smart or responsible enough to possess them.I take it that you're speaking for/of yourself. Most people I know are responsible enough to know how to properly own a gun and to always keep it out of reach of children. I would say instead that the woman wasn't smart enough to have the kids rather than the gun.

I'm not even going to bother replying because there's just no point any more.
Who should I insult?

Are we really sure the 4-year old actually shot his brother? From what I remember holding an unloaded 38 as a kid, a gun is made of steel and pretty heavy. A 4-year old would have a pretty tough time handling it.
I agree with Darc here. Why would this woman be carrying around a loaded gun, with the safety off yet, in her purse.

If you're trying to insult many people you have succeeded.
Obviously, you're lacking in knowledge on this topic as you have just called me stupid and irresponsible.

In Texas, you can obtain a concealed handgun permit for self defense. It is not known where she lived in Houston, if she had a permit, or if the safety was on.
That being said, I would NEVER condone the womans firearm responsibility. I think, in this case, the parent showed NO firearm responsibility and should bear ALL reprocussions from the incident.
