I'd get myself & family dressed nice and warm, grab our pet (Parakeet), my wallet, wife's & daughter's purses, car keys & that's it. Just hop in the cars & get out of the driveway then call 911 from a neighbor's house.

Everything else can be replaced. That is what insurance is for.

The thing i'll do is grab my computers, this one, is a must. I got to much things, inreplaceable in it, and that goes for the picture albums in the draws. Also, try get the cars in the garage backed out or some way revered out of the garage. I don't insurance can replace a 1957 thunderbird, lol.

If i still had some extra time, i'll go and get one big box in the pile where i have these boxes, and thown in all my small digital devices. if i still had some time and room left, i'll go thown in some limited edition collection DVD sets i have.

Most likey the cats would know something is wrong and get out under the house or by the houses, lol.

Screw my computers. I would probably just make sure to get all of the pictures and whatever important documents I and my family have. Everything else can be replaced. If it's safe enough, I would get my electronics, but overall I wouldnt care about them.

P.S.> I would let my schoolwork BURN BURN BURN! :sweat

I don't care about all the stuff that can be replaced because there is just way to much that can't be.

Knock on wood, then.

All I would want are all my photos. Being both my huge amount of 35mm negatives and digital. Everything else is replaceable.

Remember folks. We're talking major disaster here. Tsunami, F5 (Fujita Scale (http://www.tornadoproject.com/fujitascale/fscale.htm)) Tornados, Fire, Volcanos, Ground opening up to swallow your house. You don't have time to pick & chose. Precious seconds can cost you your or those you care about your lives.

It is bearing down on you right now! Run! Run for your life!

What can you really not live without?

Tsunami, highest closes place to be is right here (unless you count the mountain) if it's large enough..like those super mega onces...goes over the island...dead.

F5 scale tornado...mostlikey instantly dead, if it's a couple miles big, there goes at lease 1/3 of the town just by it being there.

Being that my friends computer is over at my house, That would be priority to get out of the house, then maybe my computer, but everything in the house is replacable. Although I do have alot of valubles in the house, I'd have to say bye-bye to them.

Yeah, my photos would be a huge loss... I have a rediculous amount of developed 35mm... some are quite nice!

At least I wouldn't be TOO upset if the PC went. I have GHOST images of all of my hard drives saved on my webserver, which doesn't live where I do.

I'd just throw the computer in the car and go; who needs clothes when they can have a computer? :)

The data on my computer is probably the only thing that I'd have trouble replacing; although some of the CDs and DVDs would be hard if not impossible to replace, but it's just not practical to load up 500Lbs of media when you are in a hurry.

Simple cure - offsite backup. If the info on your system is that important you should not be keeping it at home. Put the irreplacable stuff (encrypted) on a couple of DVDs & keep a copy at some relatives.

This is what I do. It saved my butt after a break-in and my computer, software and everything was ripped off. Insurance replaced the computer and software, but my irreplacable data was safe & sound at my brother's place.

I was thiknking a while ago that maybe a mobile HDD rack would help in the case of a housefire, but then I figured, I'd be taking other, more valauble stuff like all of the 35mm negatives we have, and the birdies.

There isn't anyway I'm going to move the aquarium, 40+ gallons of water just isn't going anywhere very quickly

Your lawn must be either very big or very 'thick' grass to take yea that long, unless it's some kind of obstacle course. Ain't those 'push mow' tiresome?

KaNaDiAnIcEmAn
06-08-2005, 06:28 PM
just run, and do 1/3 or 1/4 partions, the grass was probly 2 weeks long, and it was pretty thick ahaha.

they are very tiresome ,the only way it will cut is if the end wheels get grip on the grass, with it damp, u have to push down while forward to get a good cut

Raedwulf

I managed to get out a couple days ago between squalls
The length and dampness of the grass caused the breaker to blow twice... still, it beats tugging on the cable on my old Gas mower

i hated our electric mower.

a good gas mower is really nice, heavier but nice, gets the job done fast.

although, with my push mower i just mulch the grass, 2 passes now because its longer, and i dont have any bags of grass :D

I needed to retire our old Gas mower, stupid me though didn't bother to look to see if there was a recycling program, I could have traded in my old one, got a $100 rebate on an electric mower

Now I still have to find a way to get rid of the old one, I'd probably have to pay to get it off my hands :bangcomp

hmmmm nothing like a little thread drift

But Southern Alberta has been treated to just a bit more of our share of rainfall over the last week, some homes around the Cgy area had to be evacuated (I'm fortunate to be not living in a flood plane)

If I'm not mistaken, Iceman isn't in danger either, he lives at a higher elevation than I do

It's certainly not like people that live around the Mississippi, who get treated to floods almost every year, but it was enough to remind us Albertans that you don't fool with Mother Nature

Edmonton has been nice for weeks; a little overcast a few days, but no real rain to speak of. Then again I am from Vancouver, so I may not have noticed the 'rain'. :)

Send the rain down here....our yard is now almost yellow and cracks as wide as the San Andres Fault. Soooooo dry out there!

What would I save? If we are talking mere seconds...after family is safe and sound my purse would be on me anyway, pictures, an item of Wazmans that he cherishes and my daughters yellow baby.

Everything else can be replaced.

ahaha its my thread we can go wherever we want :D

edmonton always gets hit with huge rainfalls and such, but they have seasons, we dont lol

the town is higher elevation yes but i live on a golf course and we are pretty much higher up too, and nothing really drains to us.
