Four people were gored and several others sustained scrapes and cuts today as large crowds of enthusiasts ran alongside six fighting bulls in the third bull run of the annual San Fermin festival.

"The bull run featuring the bulls of Dolores Aguirre has left four people gored," said a statement issued by the San Fermin festival in the medieval Spanish city of Pamplona .

The most serious injuries were sustained by a man aged 24 whose name was withheld. He suffered two separate gorings while running and was being treated at the Navarra hospital, the statement said.

Two Spaniards were also gored and treated in the Virgen del Camino hospital.

Andre Lailheugue, 50, from France, was gored in the face while running but his condition was not considered to be serious, the statement said.

Two other Spaniards were also taken to hospital with lesser injuries.

The run took almost exactly three minutes, a relatively quick time, from a corral on the outskirts where the bulls are herded the night prior to the run to the bull ring in the center of the city...

Let's see. Spain has a yearly bull run where dozens of men are chased throuogh a small town by charging bulls. Is anyone here suprised that the bull actually managed to give a few of them a poke with those nasty horns? :shifty

If you swim, you better be prepared to get wet.

We have a similar sport here, it's called jaywalking across (insert busy local Road here) at rushhour "just for the fun of it".
It's not quite as much fun when you lose.

This is one of those things that you hear that people do and can't believe they do it... And even when you actually see proof of it, you still can't believe they do it.

Did anyone else notice that they don't just do this once a year? The runners were gored when the bulls ran for the third time that day... :Nope

What do want to bet there was some drinking involved? :beer
