I thought I'd resurrect the good old "what is it?" subject.

This one is very hard but one of my few good shots - I'm not very good at photography so I was just playing around trying to get a closeup of the subject so I could send the picture to a friend.

Anyway, Here it is:

Uh, a rock on a board with some Japanese writing on it.

It's Organic - although the lighting makes it look like Rock.

Looks like a chunk of tea or ginger? I know what it says on the box. Pretty much says a tool box. Ah Kanji.

This one is a killer - I'd say Nick might have a clue but even then it's hard.

I'll add this as a clue:

(Ed - Brandi will know what the second object is)

Ah...a nice chunk of Lebanese Blonde hash with a pleasant brass pipe to smoke it in! May I partake? LOL

Okay, I'm on target, I guess, given the mekugi tool. I was thinking it was a togi stone, but you said it is organic, so...

I really don't know. And when you tell us what it is, I will probably want to commit sepuku. ;)

Since Nick has named the Mekugi-nuki I will hazard to say that item is one of your cleaning or polishing stones. If so is it Awase Stone; Arkansas Stone; Welsh Slate Stone; or Belgian Block Stone?

Later: A little bird just told me it could be Tsuba Wax or some other form of wax.

Remember that the number of kenjutsuka who also practice togi (blade polishing) is low! Togi is often assumed to be a hundred times harder to master than simple sword skills!

Hey Matt! Look at all the Japanese words I remember! :spin The stroke didn't take everything!!!

Sadly not a fingerstone - Indeed, I would like to be a Togishi but that is a long way down the track.

I am looking to start on Tsuakmaki soon.

This is the result of a dojo "Mishap" :jawsdown

It's wood BTW

The patterns are easy. Making it stay tight is... not... LOL!

I've done several, and I was getting actually pretty good at it. Time to see if I still remember any of it, I suppose!

It is hard.

Here is the culprit (the bottom one):

Here is a picture of Brandi's katana blade showing the wave pattern.

Very nice!

mine is mono-steel.

Folded is just $$$$ and aesthetics nowadays. Plus I wouldn't cut with a folded blade that has been polished like that. :jawsdown

Interestingly, the two above "caught" the light off of upright of the lounger which has given them a nice Gold tinge.
