I was thinking about this .kids.us stuff today over at Slashdot.

http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/02/05/22/1223247.shtml?tid=158

And I kind of recall people saying something about making a .perv or something along those lines? Just think of how cool it would be to tell your browser to never load .perv webpages on your computer. I think I’d be willing to allow a bill like this to pass. I can’t see how this would hurt anyone, it just keeps the porn all in one nice spot.

How many time have you typed in a harmless .com name only to get a shock of porn in the work place or next to friends/boss? I don’t think they should lose those .com weblinks, but the main pages could at least be on the .perv site that I can block from my kids.

That's something you wouldn't want youngsters to find. Too bad they let these sites get away with it...

YIPE!!! You might want to edit that last post so that people can't go directly to the web page...actually I just went ahead and did it for you. You can understand why! I don't think these guys need the extra traffic from our forums!!

It might cut down the porn for browsers at least but other programs that contain a lot of "spyware" (I call it spamware) it will have zero effect on. My 11-year-old brother installed Kazzaa a few days ago and was greated with tons of porn popups. I doubt porn will ever decrease on the net but if this .perv thing does come to light, at least it might cut down on the exposure for unexpecting audiences.

There is no way to stop porn on the Internet unless every single person had a proper since of moral conduct, but they don't.

I used to ask myself why everyone I form the old Country would ask me for help to building them a new computer for the kids to type up reports online.. I would say why? And they would say they want thier kids to have good jobs in the future and it's something they want to understand more about... And then this dark feeling comes over me with a vision of only aiding in some worldly addiction for cheap free porn. It's dind of like putting a TV in your home with only one channel set to 69-Satan.

It's really none of my buisness what another other person does in thier life as I would like my own space to explore sexuality. But you have to admit there is alot of freaky people that feed off the Internet's gateway into your home. I might be used to this now, but it does not mean it's right for them to push porn in are faces so much so that we need Laws and Goverment power to stop it. Just look at some of these other places in the world that filter out all of the worlds trash!

Interesting.

Tivon, do you spend most of your time looking at dirty pictures on the internet? Do your kids? Or any you know? It's true that pornography will always be with us. All the filters and laws in the world won't stop it. But if you don't want to see it, unplug the computer. If you don't want you kids to see it, (at least at your house), take the cord with you. Only let them use it when you're around. That's what is meant by parenting.

All that said though, I just don't think it's as big a problem as most of you are making it out to be. Have a little faith in the average person. They aren't going to turn into raging perverts the moment they turn on their computer. Nor will your kids. You raised them better than that, didn't you?

Or is it you who can't keep from cruising the busty women every time your monitor lights up? Or does being called a "Long Dong Member" make you want to go ravage all the little 12-year-old girls in your neighborhood? I didn't think so...

So, why should it have that effect on everybody else?

So, why should it have that effect on everybody else?

And that is the one question that makes us have laws or .perv websites. There are just way too many extreme people in this world that don't think customary.

Example: You know that drunk guy that asked you for loose change while shooting a drug needle in his arm may very well own a laptop with T1 and is hosting his very own 8 year old child porn ring. Would it not be nice to know you don’t have to be subjected to his sick and twisted ways? It just makes me feel safer knowing that the Government could govern the flow of porn just as one would apply for a Ham radio license or a Liquor license.

The Government first built the Net to warn of War and Nuclear missiles. And later was used to join universities giving birth to TCP/IP. However, I don’t think the first thing anyone had plans for was sending porn. Just look at what the Internet porn has done to Pent house. They dropped sales of around 500,000,000 copies a year to only 500,000. This would imply that the Internet has become more than just a place for sending simple e-mails.

So the idea of regulating the use of Porn on the Internet seems like a good idea to me, as it’s obviously something needed to counter the growing changes influenced upon us in “The Silicon Age”.

How long do you think it will take them to try .perv?:devil

Lord knows, but I think less regulation is good for all....This as I watch the TigerTv Commercial on the TV...people generally won't find the pr0n unless they're actually looking for it, I wouldn't find it if I wasn't looking for it, so I think we just need to accept that some people want to look at it and others don't, that way, unless you go looking for it, you won't find it, so Yeah, I agree with the .perv idea, but instead maybe something along the lines of .sex, that makes it less shamefull to look at, and hell, I'd rather have half the 15 yr. olds in this country looking at the pr0n on thier computer than having children that'll grow up to be worse than their parents.
