Damn, nice!
Makes me want to post my grandpas Camry up here. It's 10 years older then yours!! :jawsdown . I consider that Camry generation (1983-1986) on what drove the Camry line-up to becoming on what it is today.

The first gen definetly was a great little car, see a few here and there. My year is the most common, where they finally made it not box-like, as the 87-91 was but didnt cheap out on certain stuff like the 97-01 did. Which is good, but definetly looks like a grocery getter if not worked on :)
I did ALL the work myself, even putting tires on the rims. My friend is going to auto school so I can get labor done for free, little stuff I can do, like tire mounting and all.
Im going to get the springs recompressed a little to get about 1/2 inch on the fronts so it fills in better. I gotta replace my strut mounts while im at it, its just time.
Suede is coming soon. I have a roll of memory foam :) and my mom quilts and does upholstery... so um... :)

Very nice car redphoenix. Couldn't have chosen better (except I prefer sixes - that's just me though).
We passed on our 94 camry to my daughter to drive back & forth to uni. It's the last of the Japanese-made Camrys - an LE V6 Sport. production was halof & half between Japan and the U.S. that year. We had to order it and wait 6 weeks to be shipped over from Japan. We followed its progress all the way by train from Vancouver. In '85 Toyota shifted all Camry production to the U.S. FYI: The '94 - not the '95 was the first of that body style. The only visible difference was a piece of trunk lid trim between the taillights.
That '94 is now 11 years old and going like a champ. It's been thru 2 sets of tires (first set was some 'V'-rated rubber that evaporated within 40,000Km), a muffler, a timing belt and a set of brakes. Damn nice car.

Thanks, Hybrid Jap cam nice :)
I prefer 6cyl as well, but i got that car for $2200 when the book on it was about 5k. Although one good thing about my 4 cyl is that its easier to turbo and they have SC kits for them, so if I ever want to mess with it like that I can, graduation is coming :KICKASS
My front end is a hybrid of gen3 and 3.5. You can see the first pic that the headliughts are longer (95-96) and the grill is different. The clear headlights only came in 92-94 so I had to mod the grill, bumper and brackets to fit it correctly

Yes, It is a very good car. Mostly everything...was made from japan, so as you can see, they do stand the test of time.
There's alot of Camrys that I see going around here (Oahu). Sometimes, you might find yourself at a intersection with 4 or 5 Camry, different years all around you. Very interesting in my opinion. :jawsdown
As for the 97-01 model, my Mom has an 2001 LE and that Camry was made in Japan (checked the metal plate by the door). From what i heard from the dealers over here, they said that the Camry (2002 +) were going to be made in the US, but then again because we're somewhat closer to Japan then Kentucky, I guess we had (hawaii) more Japan made camry then the U.S made ones compare to the Camry in the US, as Kentucky was closer and could be group shipped. When i go on ebay, i never seen an 2001 Camry made in Japan like how my Mom's one said on the plate.

As Mention above, I think because i'm living in Hawaii, we had a more shipment of Japan made camrys from 1983-2001 then the U.S/Canada and as when we got my Mom's Camry 2001 used at the dealer, they said they the production was all going to be made in US from 2002 and on. My Grandpa camry is made in Japan, check the plate in the engine compartment. So far, My Mom's camry has given to problems at all from time of purchased. Only thing she does is regular maintance, such as flushing fuilds. :Thumb

My dad once had an '86 Camry DLE but had to get rid of it about last year march because it was litterally dying on him. I mean, I asked him when he flushed the transmission fluid and the anti-freeze when we was looking for another car and he didn't remember and i checked the records...no information on any flushing either. The car was an un-garage car also, though the interior held up...prob because it was gray and it has it's share of rust, esp by the gas tank and the left tail light...which was so big you could fit your entire fist in there. It had some oil leak and something funky with the engine to begin with. Very hard time starting in the morning, sounded like it wasn't getting enough fuel. The brakes were starting to make noise (pads were worned), lack of power going up on a hill (25MPH up on on a freeway...), also would result in heavy and noisy pinging and nocking in the engine, engine light would stay on though but we were using super at that time, but for the years before i told him to use super (Hey, back then he didn't really knew the difference and i was too young) and also the anti-freeze wasn't fush too so that results in engine corrustion. He used regular unleaded before. He also forgot to cap the oil cap in the engine once, so that resulted in splash oil all over in the engine, so when you drive, the oil that stayed on the engine would constinally reburn and have that smell. He now has an '99 Corrola LE and it hasn't given any problem since.
My Grandpa still has his '85 Camry which my uncle uses often b/c his '88 accord burns oil (smoke the entire area...) and has alot of other problems, but it isn't as bad the Camry.
I wonder how much it'll cost to do repairs on the '85 Camry (I could list all the things I know...). I really like that car because I've pretty much knew that car my entire life. It's also too "multi-dozen" around here, as there's one pass here and one pass there. The bad thing is that parts are a tat harder to find, such as body parts. I wanna do some Paint job on that car...heh....
I also like the 85-87 Cressida though...you don't see THEM around at all, lucky you can see one in an week!
Anyways, here's some pictures of my Gramps Camry. (keep in mind not all pictures taken same time. Some pictures, car might appear alittle dirty then others)

Tire Spray works wonders on rubber bumpers!!
BTW, Notice how the truck design is, It's like a lid of a ice chess. There's no more of that design in now-days cars....
