My mom was admitted to CMC hospital on Wednesday Jan 8th after collapsing in the early morning to a heart attack.

The heart attack was serious enough to cause damage to her heart and she had another one that evening at the hospital. The doctors said that she had been having micro heart attacks before the medium one she had in the office of her workplace.

The doctors had diagnosed her with congestive heart failure with the cause unknown. I still don't think they know the cause. It could be viral or stress related or even some other cause. For now they put her on medication and are checking to see if she can endure the effects of the medications such as higher blood pressure.

I'm really worried about her. She is only 46 coming this november. She has had many surgeries and complications along with her brain tumor, open heart surgery etc.

Now she has the same thing that her dad had. He died 7 years after being diagnosed however he did not help the condition. He continued to smoke, drink and they didn't have the advances they have today in medication. UGH.... such a mess.

If she's willing, I know some of the best cardiologists and surgeons in this part of the US. I'd be happy to get their telephone numbers for you.

It's scary, but it is survivable. 2 years past, and I'm still (technically) alive!

I believe your mom lives in Charlotte, NC. If she is anywhere on the East Coast I would recommend visiting the Department of Cardiology at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. At least have her doctors consult with them.

Here are three links to information at Johns Hopkins that should be helpful.

He's got a point! Johns Hopkins is THE PLACE to at least visit in her case. Top-rated research clinic, and some VERY talented docs in attendance.

The Mayo Clinic is also extremely good and there are three locations in the country. The closest to you would be in Jacksonville, FL.

There is also Emory University Hospital in Atlanta which is a top 5 cardiac care hospital.
