View Full Version : How did YOU find out about 3dGameman.com??

Topic says it all. I'd figure it'll be interesting how we all some how found our way to 3dGameman.com (and forums).

Anyhow, here I go sharing my story before I forget it... :lmao

If I recall correctly, I found 3dGameman.com through a "100% kickass" review logo which then lead me to here. I think that was in mid 2004 when I went a looked up a review on a product for either my upcoming new build or an "wanted" upgrade for it that was from a hardware review site...which I can't remember where though but the review site icon was like a bear paw or something.

Anyhow, I went and click on it and it brought me here. Then I remember I favorited it and figure it's an intersting source for computer information, so I created a account on March 26 2005 (not sure why) as I remember I technically started to use 3dGameman on April 25 2005 when I thought I killed my processor (also it was my first post too). I don't know the exact reason why I joined 3dGameman in March as I usually don't join a forum or anything like that without a reason. This was also around same time when I manage to "kill" my 9800PRO ($249) and had to get a X800PRO ($399) to replace it on another system from the one I thought I killed the processor.

What I leaning more to however, is that the main reason why I joined 3dGameMan was that since I signed up for A+ Cerfication Yr 1 for up coming school year (11th grade) as I thought it would be a good place for me to learn about computers. I do know for a fact that when I thought I killed that processor, I thought for a moment and I was like "Hey, there's that Forum. Maybe they could help me?" thought. I also think that it was partly related that I wanted some other people to "talk" to as I was going through a fair amount of my own things as my emotions was running a tat high back then from what I'm getting in my past journals. I also had a arugement with one of my online friend around that time also if I'm mistaken (we used to have arguments quite often infact...about stupied stuff really...)

Also, helping people and giving input gives you a good feeling, ye know?

Basically...

Overview of what I said.

• Found 3dGameman through a hardware review site.

• I thought it would be a good learning experience (and has been without a question at all).

• Not sure the exact reason I joined here. I joined a month earlier before I actually contributed to the forums. I don't think I had any reason to join but I did. I think I had planned to help people but forgot then remembered when I posted my first thread on my processor being dead.

• I needed other people to talk to and have feed back since all my friends I know of isn't in computers.

• I wanted to help others after looking on the forums on the kinds of questions that were asked.

• I was bored and wanted to do something worth while.

So what's your story! Yours don't need to be this long and such but this took me nearly 2 hours to do since I had to search up achieves and such for both posts/threads/journals.

I found it after -=CULT-TOTAL=- complained about being banned, around the same time I was bullying him into typing properly.

I found out about it from my dad around the time I accompanied him to the last get-together. I thought it might be a cool place to hang out occasionally but didn't want to join here while he was still here. Discussions in the forums could get awkward if they spilled over into our house (we're both pretty stubborn and highly opinionated) - not cool. After he left I felt it was ok to register. ;)

So for family peace I make it a point to never register in forums where he is actively participating - including our own.

Well, in my case, I was at home on disability, recovering from heart surgery, and decided it was time to upgrade my main rig. I was looking for a big, ugly motherboard, and got rather attached to the Abit AT7-MAX2, but very few reviews had been done on it.

Googling (supposedly, that word is no accepted as a real word!)led me to a 3dGameMan video review, which I thought was very cleverly done (very personallized compared to other sites' video reviews), and I started going through all of them. Then, I paid attention to what Rod mentioned at the end about the forums, registered, and I've been here every since.

I was building my first computer and was looking all over the net for good computer related reviews. I stumbled upon the video reiews here and was hooked. Even though I have watched the videos for a long time, I have only recently joined the forums this year.

I had just ordered parts to build my first rig after I had gotten annoyed enough by the Emachine I was running at the time and a member here (DcGamer415) told me to come here because there were a lot of people that knew what they were talking about. It was the first computer forum I ever joined and still remains my favorite by a long shot.:Beer

Never saw this topic!!

Well, my story is pretty simple. I was looking at "The 5GHz Project" on youtube and one of the related videos was about a product rod reviewed (I think it was a LC system. cant remember was a while ago). I took a look at the review and was like "wow, this guy is good." At the end of the video rod said(paraphrased) "If you like my reviews check my out website at 3dgameman.com" and I went there watched another 10 or 20 or so reviews and was "damn" and headed over to the forums to see more info about the products he reviewed ( =P what can i say? hes good!) and I saw how active and informative the forums was so I posted my topic about suggested hardware for the X2 :) And thats how I got to this place! And I met some very cool people too (some of which need to start their paper when its given, and not 6 weeks later ;)) :)

Yup... Thats about it.

Cheers,

Ahh, mines a simple story, I was on Antec's website checking out the 'new' Nine Hundred case, on the case's page was one of Rodney's review on the Nine Hunderd case. I watched it, enjoyed it, and it led me to this site, where I found alot more reviews and an excellent forum to discuss computers. After a month or two of watching Rodney's video reviews, I eventually joined in :)

Google.

I thought seeing the hardware in action would be better than a static review. But not only did Rodney have interesting reviews, he had one of the world's most beautiful women holding and showing the hardware to you. As the years went by, the reviews got better and Sherry only got more beautiful, especially as we all got to know her. What was not to like?

I do miss all the banter we used to have several years ago. It was all one big family helping and kidding and sometimes arguing with each other. It was a shame there were people who suddenly took the arguing too seriously. It was a very unique thing that clashing egos destroyed. It even ran Sherry off. Shame on all of us. :Sigh

:thumb I would be lying if I didn't say it was word of mouth... Actually I heard about 3dg from Amdboy89, he is a buddy of mine that lives just about a mile and a half down the street. Ever since then I have been an avid viewer, and an increasing poster!

I guess Rodney needs to hire another lady to present the goods, preferably one that will work for hardware. :devil

It's video reviews I found with Yahoo search. I was looking at reviews on which water cooling system are the best and all. I really like the video reviews with Rodney. Lots of information although don't have extreme overclocking reivews like Tom's and VRzone. Still 3Dgameman is one of my few favorite sites.

We're still growing and with Youtube addition, members are coming in quite fast now.
