I get that problem even with normal firefox! Type it in and hit the button. If it comes back like you didn't log into it, without any errors, then goto the URL and add in www before 3dgameman and hit Enter.

okay are you just logged into the forums? becuase the forum log in and the site login are different, you have to register with both, if you havent then go to the main page and look to your right you will see and login and password and under that register so do that and use the same name as the forum and same email, then you can go back log into the main page and post your comment

I could always sum up another computer. I got a spare 478 motherboard (cheap ASUS one...I bought because it was....cheap) along with a 1.7P4 (salvage from death @ school) laying around. Since I don't got any OS, I could always use Vista beta on it until it comes out, LOL!

Could really use 4 exact size hard drives though.

Take into consideration that 5 people probably have no chance to win it (hopefully, you're not one of those), then you have 2/27. 7.4%. Thing is that graphic cards lose value very fast, one of the most fastest component that loses money. This is one reason why most retail chain outlets do not sell top-end graphic cards.

Also, graphic cards is one of systems most "Expensive" components too. The processor goes in first, but overclocking a processor is much more easier and the performance gains in overall performance is much greater then it would in overclocking a GPU.

I suppose the thing I would love to win is a nice wide screen LCD with a nice resolution (above 1600X1200). Again though, the only 3 major games I do play is BF2, GW, and F.E.A.R Multi. Also, a nice graphic card is only as nice as a nice CPU. BF2 takes about a minute or two to load up on my P4 3.0GHz while it takes a fair 30sec on my FX60. Since image quality is a key issue for me (I do GW comics sometimes), thats really my only reason why I would do a SLi/CF setup.

In a way, it's good to keep this thread active as long as the contest is going so that it will be on the main directory, so people don't need to hunt for it in the subparent forum (Giveaway/Contests (3GM).

Anyhow, I totally agree with you with the graphic card situation. Look at me, I got the X1900 Masterboard and X1900XT. It costed me nearly $1,100 just for that. What did I really got out of that spending that much? Nothing much besides those...

I've already once spent on something expensive, so I highly doubt I'll buy this route again. It's nice for once to buy something "top-of-the-line", but I certainly won't do the same again (unless I win some kind of jackpot), especally how much the Core Duo E6300 cost and since how now the X1950PRO is coming out. I mean, you can buy like a X850XT for about $150 bucks at newegg. Pretty cheap since it used to cost about $429. Reminds me of the X800XT. Before the X800XT used to cost $699. Is it anywhere near that resale value today?

I guess I suppose people who are computer gurus can be like "wow, he bought this XXX thing for XXX." OF course, you could like fool them in you spending a whole lot of it especially if you bought that once $1,000 processor for like ...

Well not to get off topic but ya Leds work fine and with cathodes if not in direct sun work great but will fade and become brittle with direct sunlight so ya those wouldnt last as long.
Ya I made my own dome light for my neon using some 30 blue LEDs and soldering them to a custom made pcb board with the correct caps and resistors and what not and wired in to the existing dome light which was using a bulb, so now when you open the door to my neon or turn on the dome light it glows a bright blue, lighting the whole inside up, I even have a trace wire to my subs so if I turn that on the leds will beat to the music. http://www.3dgameman.com/forums/images/icons/icon15.gif

Yea, Thing is since the tail light is quite square, it'll be easy...or so to speak...to attach...a nice amount of small LEDs as the "bright stop" light. As for the "dull night" light, not sure how I can do that since those typical taillight bulbs come with double filament.

White cathos also make great replacement for those weak trunk lights too.

This is going offtopic and maybe I should open another thread but...does PCB live through direct sunlight/heat well? I'm guessing they'll wear out quick.

Argh, I just got a lot of...everything.

I got approx a nice 200GB of files to backup. The thing is that at lease half of it is in a folder called "need to be orginized" (and spelled incorrect). Thing is that I don't got time to orginize it...


Just to give you the idea how unorginize I am, I'm currently on my old gaming rig (my sony rz26G) and my "Need ORGINIZED!!" (again, misspelled) has contains 1.21GB of stuff with 5,246 files and 610 folders. Again this is NOT ORGANIZED! Wait until I DO organize it!...

My laptop is worst, my desktop picture is icons....



I reall should just do an auto run (automatic backup) on a file server when ever I keep thinking about this....maybe get about 4 X 160GB and RAID1 em....I don't know how I can live if I lose my data...

Everyday when I turn on my computer the first website I go on is 3DGameMan. Anxious to see if there have been any replies in my topics and to see Race’s progress on his case and to see if he posted a video of him using the Dremel. This is an excellent example of addiction toward a person or object. During the school day, secretly, I think about what new posts could have been posted at 3DGameMan and what new Video Reviews Mr. Reynolds was supposed to post that day.
In conclusion, I have a secret love toward 3DGameMan.com. This could be seen through my addiction to the website. Me refreshing the New Posts page every several minutes and its general awesomeness.

Here we go!



Love can be classified into many different things, some cane be pointed to animated or inanimate things. For me, the love of going onto 3GM every day (more like every chance I get) has actually turned into an addiction. Like love, once tasted, one comes back for more.

It all started when I was surfing the internet. I was looking for some upgrades for my first build. At that time, I didn’t know about 3GM. Then wham, I hit a review hardware site where one of it’s product had a link to the company site page. From there, I then found another product review which lead me to 3GM. I clicked it and it lend me to here. I favorite it and figure it’s an good source for computer information since later that year I was planning to take A+ Certification Year 1. I created an account but I didn’t use it. Not sure why though but I did start using 3GM on a daily bases after I posted a thread asking for help on a problem I had. I got help for that but I end up figuring it out. I was surprise on how much people came to help so quickly, so I knew I could contribute to this society.

That was when I figure that I had some kind of mission to do; something that I could contribute. It is worthless to have a skill or knowledge of something but don’t share it. After being helped on this great forums, I decided to return what had been given to me - multiply it by tenfold.

Addiction quickly took over my thought process. I tried my best to help people with problems early on - even with my limited knowledge back then, trying my best as that is all that really matters. Then what really triggered and caused my addiction to spurge was when I actually helped somebody. He was so happy on what I recommended to him (an anti-spy ware program), the feeling of helping somebody was simply amazing; like a drug.

A drug so to seem. I couldn’t wait to actually go on 3GM after that. I spent most of my time on the forums hovering over threads, looking to see what people problems were and try give them troubleshooting assistants. I also figure since I was in A+ Certification Year 1 in my 11th grade, I knew that 3GM would not only be a place for me to hang out on the internet, but it was almost like a teacher, except it was a link to the real world and not in a classroom. Real problems with real people - something that can’t be duplicated in the classroom.

I devolved more of my time to 3GM to the point that during recess at school, I would go on 3GM from a eMac in my A+ Certification class. Since I had that class before lunch recess, I was able to spend a good 30 minutes during my school time on 3GM on days I had my A+ Certification class.

Day after day, I would come home and go straight to my computer to check out 3GM for any new threads that people needed help with. It actually got to the point I would spend more then just minutes, but a hour on 3GM.

With all this knowledge, it helped me through three projects in that class. If it wasn’t for all that knowledge learned from this forums, I don’t know what I would have to do.

As for knowledge, most people don’t know that the person being helped is also helping the helper. Why do I say that? It makes me go research and/or look for products that the person is having issues with. Also, this keeps me updated with the ever changing structure of the technological world, something I wouldn’t be able to do on my own.

So day after day, I would help and get helped from people. More hours got devoted to 3GM. It soon become hours. At some days, I would pull in a nice three to six hours total.

Addiction got quite bad actually, I sometimes just type in 3dGameMan.com in my internet browser at random times. It would be like I’m thinking to go on yahoo.com but I somehow type in 3dGameMan.com. It’s freaky since sometimes I keep doing that two or three times in a row without me knowing I’m doing that. I also started to leave my laptop on through the night right besides me where I slept. I figure if I decide to wake up in the morning, I get the first opportunity to go on 3GM and see if anybody needs help or to fight back those spammers as I give them no mercy.

My trip to Japan was a good example of Addiction. I went to Japan last year and I brought my stuff. Most people brought the typical things, but I had something different from the camera, memory stick, and batteries. I had a laptop with me. The biggest reason was to store my photos on my laptop since having 1.5GB worth of storage space was simply not enough for my camera memory sticks. Another reason why I brought my laptop was that I was too addicted to leave my beloved 3GM behind, away for nine painful days.

I login in to 3GM in every opportunity I had on the trip. I wouldn’t be surprise my fellow roommates thought I had a crazy addiction with a forum; especially since none of them brought a laptop.

That didn’t change when I went to Las Vegas also. I spent my hours on 3GM late into the wee morning. Sure, I could have left 3GM away but I decided that it was my duty, as a contributor to have no excuse to not going on 3GM and helping people. Even when I’m sick I still went on 3GM. There was one time where I couldn’t do my usual thing and that was when I had the 24-hour flu and was pretty much bed ridden. I still had my laptop on to 3GM even though I couldn’t really help to my typical amount. I still was able to help a reply to a few post as long as my arm and neck didn’t hurt to the point I couldn’t think. Fever also affected my thinking processes and memory limiting my abilities to help people. Tylenol helped me during that time so I was able to continue my 3GM rampage. I do sometimes wake up early to go on 3GM before I go to school. There has been times where I have almost been late to school from my 3GM addiction. They had MySpace but geez, who thought there was something worst then a MySpace addiction?

This site has change everything I do; from morning to night. It has helped me to stay in full knowledge of things that doubt my teacher knows about in hardware wise to getting real life experience of computer problems which would make working at a real store like it was potty training (for the most part). Aside from the ever addiction of having two laptops tuned to 3GM at times and having at lease one on 3GM while I sleep and next to me, I have to say this site has done a lot to me in many ways; good ways that is. I doubt how I would live a day without 3GM as it’s just now a natural part of my everyday life.


I love what I wrote, I'm printing it out. This was my best hour spent.

Doesn't the Stacker have 8 front bays?


The Stacker 830 has 8 bays. 2 of em are filled up by opticals, the bottom 3 is filled from the HD cage. 1 of em is filled by floppy and another 1 is filled by fan controller. In total, I got one left.

Although for that case, I'd be better off making a file server....as SFF case so incase my house starts burning, I can save my files. There is no way I'm gonna carry my stacker 830 with me.

lol oh god Im screwed then with my case lol oh wait no Im not, I have a secret well after this it wont be so secret but Im going to attempt to make my computer have a track wheel system like a tank and have it remote controlled for moving around or just standard so I can roll it around as the tracks will make it more stable for the weight and help deminish vibration ^^ its an idea I have been playing with in my head for a while now.

well a track system would insure a smoother ride which would help removed the chances of the vibration and bumps from causing the computer parts inside to shift and possible stress fractures from occuring, fi you were to make your computer hop you would have to make sure everything was re-inforced including the slot cards so that they could not move up and down and run the risk of snapping along with other components in the system, thats why I changed my mind when I first thought of a mult wheel indipendant system to a track system which has a similar concept but contains a much larger foot print which makes it more stable and dispurses the weight throughout the track. ^^

Lucky dog! Oh well, I'm actually using the RAM I got, and I like it a lot, so I'm not complaining. I think my case is big enough for now.

So Samsamha, have you filled up that case yet like Kingdom did?

not yet, been lazy to transfer everything. The stacker is still sitting in my room (taking up spaces :( ), that's why I won't enter this contest (and the next one), so that other people have a chance to win something awesome and nice.. I need to get it filled up soon. Maybe need to get new parts for a totally new setup. (I wish).

Yeah, I'm seriously ripping the cables from this thing or taking the HDDs if there's a fire. Having removable drive bays helps so much. I will risk my life to save this info. Very important.

Oh yeah, and the more Contributing Members, the more hope there is for a CM giveaway again. Yea hopefully, Rod emailed me with an address problem last night but i think CM sorted it out since it arrived today, but it shipped from ontario via fedex so it wasnt going far

Alright got the case in today and it is pretty, my brother is already tearing his computer apart so that we can get his hardware in to that system and then I will move on to designing a custom water cooling system to work with that case and add a little more flare to it.
I will probably sell his/my old case that he was using and use that extra cash for either his water cooling stuff or towards my build.

Yes my brother said that the tooless design is awesome and that it made installing everything is this case a breeze, he also like the way the hdds are installed and that its easier to work on them as well as keep them cool.

yup this case was very dusty even being under a plastic cover, the pics havent been altered or anything what you see if how it came out of the box, dust and all lol

Ya even with just the air cooling my brother said the temps in this case have lowered his overall temps compared to what he was getting in the previous case, so he happy.

Yeah, I found that the case really affects the temperatures bc the airflow can completely change everything which kinda goes back to how you, Race, are talking about having 1-2 fans = need for cooling RAM.
