Bell. Because we don't get a whole lot of choices and Bell gives me a good discount.

Verizon... just because. I've always been with them so I can't really compare it to another company. I can tell you I've always had good signal, and plans are pretty good.

I don't have a cell phone right now, but I've been thinking about getting one. I've been polling people I see with phones. Around here, the vast majority use Verizon due to the quality of the service. It's more expensive, but the signal is better.

I borrowed a Verizon phone once and was really impressed with quality of the sound. It was as good as my home phone.

At the moment I am using tmobile because we got a cheap family plan w/ them. Next month we are switching over to cingular. It will be cheaper, and they have better coverage. They also don't charge you $6/m extra to check your yahoo mail :Thumb And they have a cooler logo ^^

At the time I got my T-Mobile, it was like 300 minutes more than the plan Cingular had for the same price. I'm not warm and fuzzy about the fact that Deutsche Telekom owns T-Mobile, but hey, ATT is now practically a monopoly.

Cingular here, I used to have Nextel/Sprint through my work and they were the absolute worst for reception and dropped calls. The only reason I couldn't complain at the time was because worked paid for the phone. Now that I am paying for it, I have no complaints with Cingular. They have great coverage and I always have a strong signal, its my phone that is an absolute POS. Don't get a Razer whatever you do, this thing is nothing but problems. Good thing I didn't pay a dime for it.

I voted Nextel, but I actually use Sprint... who owns Nextel. I'm surprised that you missed Sprint up there! The have, by technology, the most advanced system available in the US and Canada.

Sprint works for me because I travel, on roads, and they have pretty much every major stretch of US Interstate covered. I did make sure that my phone also included the low-bandwidth digital and the analog transmitter (3-band device), just in case I ended up on one of my "got lost looking for gas" trips again. I have yet to end up somewhere where I couldn't get enough signal to call.

Sprint's EVDO data service is also a life-saver. My wife can be on-line in the car in the middle of Wisconsin and she's still pulling DSL-like speed over my cell phone. Impressive!

Nor does it seem to like us Canadians.

I tried to access Sprint Canada ( http://www.sprint.ca ), and it seems they have pulled up stakes & left Dodge. Too bad since we really could use some real cellular competition up here (we get Bell, Rogers, Telus, Fido (owned by Rogers) & Virgin).

Cingular...which is changing back to AT&T.

How good the service is depends on where you are at in the country, or so it seems. Cingular and Verizon seem to have the best voice quality and coverage in our area and also nationwide. Our personal phones are w/Cingular and my work phone is Verizon. Neither has better quality.

Although I'm a little frustrated with my Nokia E62 (http://www.nokiausa.com/phones/E62/0,7747,,00.html). Cingular loaded up it's own proprietary ROM on it and really screwed up a good phone. I'll hack it before too much longer and get it running the way Nokia intended. I've heard this is common amoung cell carriers and their phones, though.

I think they all brand it with their stuff and then cripple stuff they don't want you using on their network.

I have Verizon now because I got a better cost by switching over.

I miss Cingular.

My service was 10x better and I was much happier. The only benefit with Verizon is that I am paying about 25% less for the same service.

Give them some time. They are still "rolling out" the Canadian system.

Sprint uses a very unique transmission system, so they really have to build their own towers, at least for the data side of things. Makes for a lot of work to get a good system up, compared to anyone who uses the standard GSM and can just lease towers.

Wow, it must be nice to have all this competition to choose from. Here in Canada we mostly have two major carriers that deal with the CDMA network (Bell and Telus). For the GSM Network all we have is Rogers. Right now I am with Bell, but if one day a GSM carrier can offer the same corporate plan as Bell does I am with them :).

Hows the prices though?
Sure we have "competition" here, but it doesn't lower the cost or increase coverage that much.

Our prices are pretty expensive throughout. I am on a Government corporate plan, so I get a lot of percs at a lower price :)

As much as I hate Verizon & their contracts, it does the best in coverage so far. I went snowboarding last weekend and none of my friends had any service on the mountain - Tmobile, Cingular, Nextel. I had about 4 out of 5 bars.

They are pretty good, I know a few people who used Roger's Wireless and lost reception under an overpass. But Sasktel is really good, but sometimes I have to go into northern saskatchewan (boonies) for work and the coverage gets a bit choppy... mainly because its not really densly populated.

https://commerce.sasktel.com/eSales/start.swe?SWECmd=InvokeMethod&SWEMethod=Linkup&SWEService=SKTL+eSales+Link+Service&ViewName=Product+Catalog+Category+Detail+View+-+Product+Basic+(eSales)&BusObject=Catalog&BusComp=Catalog+Category&Id=1-JMO2G&SWERF=1&SMIDENTITY=NO I hope I can post links up here, because this is one. Let me know if im not allowed to and I'll take it off with a swift edit.
