Dear PayPal account holder,

I saw something like that before. No matter how hard phishers try to get me to click in the link and that I always put it in the junk mail, which disables pictures and links (Windows Live Mail (that i currently use) even notified me of a phishing scam), I just delete them right away!!

Sorry, but this is old-news to me.

Whenever I see something like that I go to my own links to paypal and check it out. Nobody should ever simply click links contained in an unsolicited email. Legitimate sites will never send you unsolicited mail that requires a link to be clicked.

Exceptions are solicited emails where you did something on a site that requires you to click a link in an email sent to you (i.e. resetting a password). You will always initiate that activity and you will always be notified by the site that they are sending you an email that contains a link to click.

Yep, this particular format has been in circulation by one phisher or another for a couple years.

Here's a quick note, folks, from my wife, the PayPal queen:

PayPal's account notice emails are generated directly by the web database engine, so it knows basics of your account profile. Where the phishing email reads:
Dear PayPal account holder
A real Paypal generated email will read (example):
Dear Nicholas McDermott

Also NOTE
Paypal will ALWAYS use your full name when contacting you.
