WAYCROSS, Ga. - Allegations that third-graders hatched an elaborate plot to knock out, handcuff and stab their teacher were met with shock by neighbors and with doubt by psychiatry experts who said it is unlikely that children that young seriously intended to hurt anyone.

Police say the plot at Center Elementary School began because the children, ages 8 to 10, were apparently angry after the teacher disciplined one of the students for standing on a chair.

Students brought a crystal paperweight, a steak knife with a broken handle, steel handcuffs and other items as part of last week's plot, police said Tuesday. They said nine students were involved, but prosecutors are seeking juvenile charges against only three of them - msnbc.com (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23905909/)

Unbelievable... I will say these things can happen all the time in big-city schools but GA doesn't have many big cities but in LA, NYC or something like that were violence runs rampants and teachers sometimes carry a stick to protect themselves from these crazy, not yet developed brain. All I can say is... we need to raise good teacher's wage to justify doing their jobs.

That is not the problem.

The problem is how they interpret the data that they are receiving, and their understanding of what is right and wrong.

So, true. That's why parental supervision is such a necessity.

Not only parental supervision, but also sufficient parental involvement in the child's life to help develop a prosperous and well-educated adult.

I'll give you the simple truth and will shock you. No discipline from parents!!!! Back in the days parents put the fear into the kids by either spanking or yelling but now that is "taboo" because it can be abusive behavior. Now kids run around with no respect for anyone and no fear of consequence because we can't "hurt" them. In other countries, their kids are humble, respect, and fearful of their parents; why? because of discipline! Come people discipline your kids, put the fear of god and you in them! lol

I still involuntarily shiver why my mom gets that scary look luckily I stopped doing stupid things(mostly) a few years ago... still scares me when even when its directed at my little bro...

See, that's why. You see SPOILED kids running around a lot? Their parents give them everything they desire. Like my niece, she is the cutest toddler I've seen and she is spoiled by everyone but my brother, her father. So whenever she acts up, talk back, or throwing a tantrum, my brother just says "hey, stop it" in a stern tone and stare into her till she calms down. That's discipline enough for me.

mmhm... I'm really quite glad for having the **** scared out of me, tho my parents have mellowed since i was little. My brothers got it easy.

Please don't tell me that these anti-videogame-violence people say that the kids played Counterstrike, Manhunt, and Grand Theft Auto.

This is quite terrible. Scary what even small children do these days.
