Hi.
Forgive me if this is in the wrong area or has been suggested before.
I notice in the buy and sell area there is a thread for posting feedback about a buyer/seller.
On another forum I am on, each member has an area called "Trust", in this area you can add positive, negative and neutral feedback and its allot easier to check feedback for everyone.
Wonder if its possible for a feature like that here?
Thanks
Will.

What we have works fine. You really can't trust the feedback on something like that anyway.

i think you can trust feed back as long as you are careful to take everyone's suggestions with a grain of salt
in my opinion it would make this forum seem even friendlier than it is now
in the end though, it is rodney's decision, and we've done pretty well without it so far, like egerrard pointed out

Yes I know its rodney's decision since its his forum, I just thought I'd share the idea.
Just because its done pretty well so far does not mean there is no reason to change/improve, my celeron 1.2Ghz computer has done pretty well so far on the desktop but I still wanted to upgrade to improve things.
Either way it would be an improvement, I understand its rodney's decision and obviously what he says goes.

If it said noob it should be reported, why would anyone do that anyway.
The forum this feature is allready in action with is alot more active than this and has about the same number of members, thats why I thought it was a good idea as its worked brilliantly on that forum, but its obvious everyone is not giving it a second though and just dismissing it trying to say its a stupid idea, I give up its the second thread with that sort of attitude, people afraid of change. Well that's very immature of you isn't it?
And in the trust feature it does have features like Report abusive comment and respond to comments counter things like that, you don't think a forum would just allow abusive comments to go without anything been done do you? On the forum I've never seen one abusive comment yet, the dons are quick to deal with anything and remove such comments and I think they will be plenty of admins on here that can do things like that.

Yes, it is. Obviously, you don't know of my jovial nature on this forum. I believe that I have a wide spectrum of maturity depending on the nature of the topic which I'm posting. It can be down right childish to guru depending on what I'm posting. You simply have to decide for yourself which I am really.
And in the trust feature it does have features like Report abusive comment and respond to counter things like that.
It's still more trouble than its worth. It might affect forum posting, and turn it into a sycophantic popularity contest. On this forum, trust isn't earned by post count or by some silly trust feedback feature. Respect and trust is earned by how well you represent yourself and your ideas. The last thing I want to see is people curbing their opinions because they're avoiding from losing out on some silly trust popularity contest.

The point of it is to show what you have sold and if they buyer/seller was happy with out, its just like ebay feedback!
I don't get why it would not work though, I cant see the whole forum turning it into something you describe, everyone on the forum would have to be a bunch of immature little kids for that.
It would help of rodney would reply sometime to see what he thinks, much better getting opinions from the admins.
I just wanted opinions, I just don't think comments that instantly wright the idea off and say its totally stupid are needed.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you wanted a sort of member rating system. Which I guess used to be part of the forums.
I don't think many even know there is a member rating system.
But, that predates my tenure on this forum. It's funny though since Scottman an old admin got bad marks.
Yeah, I just noticed that my rating dropped from 5 to 4 with only 3 votes. In my profile, the weighted average is 3.7. I know that before the third vote was cast my average was 5. This means that someone must have given me a "1" to get me down to 3.7. Have I really done anything on this board to deserve a "1" rating from anyone?
:lmao

I used to be one of the moderators here, so I believe that I have a good understanding of the current admin's (Tivon & Zeeker) and the owner's (3Dgameman) intentions. But, I could be wrong, so to get their attention I'm reporting this thread for you. Good luck with that.

I'll be honest with you, we don't have nearly have as much transactions as eBay. Heck we don't even as much transactions as a local Craig's List.
If you're looking for more information about a particular seller you're better off using the Advance Search feature. Highlight the "Buy and Sell" forum input the user's name and change the drop down from "find posts by user" to "find thread started by user". You'll then get a list of threads which they've tried to sell something. In most case, it should be a short list to go through to get an understanding. It isn't as elegant as eBay's feedback, but again we don't have that much transactions to justify such an implementation.

And the answer from Tivon. That would be a cool feature but the forum software does not support this naively without adding in hacks. Things become more complicated when updates are needed when there are many hacks to deal with. So unless Rodney or Zach feels like adding this then I'd say it will never happen. We are a tight community here, if someone had something bad to say about another members seller rating then you would know about it and that would be the last you hear of them in that part of the forum. This is not Ebay, we don't try to rip anyone off, Bad sellers in here will meet Tivon's foot. :)

No, I base my views and opinions of people on the content of their statements and their proper use of their native language. (Your posts are grammatical and spelling horrors and your location is the UK for crying out loud. Don't they teach English there?) I also use my life's experience to form opinions of people. I'm fifty-six-years-old and I've learned to read people fairly well.
A word of advice, before suggesting changes, get to know the members and read the previous threads, you just might learn something and make a better first impression of yourself.

My suggestions was perfectly fine and my English is too. I suggested something, I did not expect some ***** to start calling me a "n00b"
Since when was this forum an English lesson? My posts are easily readable and there is people from my country with much worse grammar, my posts are in no way grammatical and spelling horrors, that I am afraid is a load of fud you are talking.
I don't need to get to know members to make a suggestion, did you even read what my suggestion was? Its obvious to me that people are not welcome to make suggestions around here as they'll get jumped on by someone like you. When I made the suggestion I never thought members would start calling me "n00b" and telling me its a stupid idea, maybe the suggestion is not for this forum, without suggestions and feedback you get nowhere.
Just because you are 56 years old does not mean you are always right, I think you are just looking down upon someone younger than you.
This thread has now turned into a slagging match, just because you think something is not a good idea does not mean you have to call people a "n00b" which in itself is immature.
I think in your case, its the join date that gave it away,
So just because I have not been here for years instantly means I'm not allowed to make a suggestion, no matter how long I would have been here it would not change my thoughts and who I am, its getting abit old people judging other people by there join date and post count, its pathetic. I cant believe a perfectly sensible suggestion has some how made people decide to try and throw insults at me, what sort of forum is this, on forums with much more people I've happily made a suggestion and its been fine, either they give a perfectly sensible reason why or why it cannot be used, not reasons like plain no or, no you're a n00b.
A simple answer like the buy and sell section is just not active enough to warrant the need for something like this would be fine. I never asked to be called a n00b or have insults thrown at me, or have my English criticised, I just wanted to put forward my suggestion... That is all..

No one is insulting you. I just pointed out your spelling and sentence structure is bad.
It is considered rude to join a forum and immediately start recommending changes without getting to know the members first.
No one cares how other forums are constructed. This is Rodney's forum and he has it as he wishes. There have been changes in the forum over the years, some good, some bad, but every change has been made by Rodney because he wanted the change.
The correct way to have asked your question would have been to ask Rodney or Tivon via e-mail or PM why the item in question is as it is and to suggest to either of them your suggestion. Your actions came off as a heavy-handed attempt to change something to suit you not the forum members in general.
I see you are a student, probably in secondary school or early college. From your replies and stance to criticism and kidding, it seems that you have much to learn about life in general and social interaction in particular.

Apology accepted.
Perhaps once you have lived in a particular board for a while and gotten to know a lot of its members you will learn when suggestions are welcome. You have just had your first lessons that people who have been here for years will take a sizable chomp out of the backside of new folks joining and immediately throwing out suggestions on how to change things. Like it or not a lot of the veterans here have actually worked long to get the board just to the point you see it now. They don't take kindly to upstart n00bs coming in and tossing around suggestions about changing things around. Usually not a cool thing to do on any well established board.

Ok now that I've exhausted my laughter and lost my voice in the process... Just calling us people afraid of change is the last thing I wanna hear when business owners are afraid to swap out a 20 year old system because "it works"...
Secondly, Rodney is busy! video reviews are not simple to do and Q&A videos are time consuming as well plain and simply HE IS BUSY he's not going to respond to your posts on command because you want to...

No, while I may have made a thread celebrating my 1k post count recently, I don't believe it earns me anything other than the fact that I've got 1,000 posts... really nothing more I was excited because it took a while for me to achieve and etc. However, it really means nothing if you think about it... if anything it hints that I need to get a life!... but that would defy my avatar and sig...
