it's a society issue tat kinda makes girls not to play games like a lot of guys do, hence most girls don't really care what's the stuff they have sitting inside their white towers nor they care about performance.

Maybe this would be interesting. What is it in society that makes women/girls not be interested in hardware like computers, cars, etc. Sure there are always exceptions, but in general, what causes this. Even myself in school, everyone seems to be treated the same, yet most girls could care less about math, science, or technology. Maybe Sherry could give an interesting viewpoint on this.

its because women never were really into all these gadgets, and it is considered "geeky" to do so. women "should" be doing things like buying clothes and cute little stuffed animals, not working on computers. it is considered tomboy-ish, in a way. however that is just a myth, there is nothing wrong with working on this stuff.....:Blah

From personal experience, I can honestly say that if you are female, and you are taught that you are supposed to like "cute, girly things" and that "trucks and tools are for boys", then that's what you will believe. However, I was brought up differently.
All my cousins that were my age were boys, and we always hung out at the same house during summertime and holidays. One aunt looked after all of us wired kids :). So, whatever they were playing with, I wanted too, in order to fit in.
So, when I was youngster, I had little construction boots, and a baseball cap AND dinkies and R/C cars...BUT...I also had pretty dresses, lip gloss and perfume, sweet dolls, ponies and stuffed toys, and an Easy-Bake oven :). My parents never scolded me for wanting to try new things even if it was considered to be "for the boys".
But when you get into school, and as you grow up, the sexes become more separate. Those girls that went along with the popular crowd tended to drift out of tomboy-ish things. I rathered to stay focused on my school work, love my girl stuff too, but also enjoy the things my male cousins had shown me that were so fun! Who would want to miss catching crabs in the sea, or sitting on the lake shore and fishing (I hate putting worm on hooks, tho' ;) ).
The only problem with enjoying boy stuff, is that when you are a teenage girl, you're always seen as the good friend, and not the girl friend ;). That's probably why lots of girls shun off the tom boy stuff. It pulled me away. When I think of how much I enjoyed programming on my CoCo2 Tandy before I was 12, and after that fair age dropped it like a rock...how stunned was I :D?

I've had the pleasure of playing along side real women on the net many times over the years. When I used to play Everquest we had 3 girls that I've talked with one on one to make sure they were not guys, some of those girls are really guys. I've also dated a few women at school that would put most men to shame when overclocking or PC hardware was the the main topic. Too bad I married the best looking girl that hates computers.:Yea right

Hey Tivon you were playing on wich server? I played 3 years on Kanara.
Charles Darwin proposed the theory of evolution to explain the origin, diversity and complexity of life.
Darwin theorized that simple life [E.g. Girls stereotype'd behaviour] evolved into complex life [E.g. Everthing minus girl stuff ! ) through a series of small beneficial changes which accumulated over time.
** Darwin's premise is flawed because small evolutionary changes are not cumulative. That is numerous small changes cannot explain the large changes necessary for new and more complex animals and plants. **
Although id like to see how a unifield system would be integrated without drawbacks. We need mothers. We need people who would like to work in the industries with long career's. Problem is , that people can love their jobs too much (yes girls ive seen it happen).
Declarations to be made :
1. I am not gay !
2. Girls need to be Girls - although the environment we now live in as a society push's them to be girly 24/7. Love making 24/7 ? yes. *****ing 24/7 ? NOOOOOOOOOOO!
3. Willing to have Orangepeel if something goes wrong (here comes the ban LOL)
4. Dont come here often but if you lot have nice intelligent conversations dam i should stop here often :)
5. Changes wont happen in a rush.

Money is a big deciding factor that sends two parents into the work force. I don't know how some people do it. It takes a whopper of a paycheque for one to make up for the woman staying home to look after the kids.
Ya, we ladies are like everyone else. You can get too used to your job. If/when I have kids, I can't imagine staying home all the time. But it would be the best option if the funds allow :).
It's probably better to stay home afterwards anyways. Unless you have tons of family members to pawn you kids off on for babysitting, it takes a lot of money to pay for a nanny. The trade off to work is paying for that babysitter who you probably don't know as well as you would like to.
Solution: Work part time? Maybe...but the tax man is still going to want a cut. At least you still have your foot in the door for a job if it's needed. And, you get to spend quality time with your children :).

What I can't figure is why the guys want to wear pierced ears. One ear s'ok...but two ears? Now that's a little less common, just as long as it's not the long dangly earrings ;).
Multiple piercings are a more common site here in T.O. I've seen an increase in the belly button rings and nose studs for the girls. I know one male pharmacist with two earrings, a nose ring, and two other piercings which I dare not mention, but that he's most proud of!!!!!!!!!
Personally, I'd be afraid of what would happen if any of that stuff got infected somehow !

YES! Please invade!!! Definately need more females interested in all this. But like so many already said, society deems this kind of techie-world as "unfit" for females. (Did I just use the word techie? need more coffee...)
Well that is BS!
Look at the UT2K3 demo. No female skins! No wonder grlz aren't interested as much as men. The announcer or whatever's voice should be female. There should be classes in high school...call it PC guts 101 or something, and make it mandatory for women to take. Then they can learn at an early age how fun it is to rip open a PC and work on it. Heck, they might even enjoy that. Most women I know take their PCs to me to fix :D because they say that they can't imagine opening their case up...
Hopefully, more females will eventually get involved. Lord knows the hardware/modding/gaming etc. community needs it!!!
So come on girls! Do you believe in love?! Cause I got something to say about it...
Uhhh...think I'll get that coffee now...and turn off 80's Madonna...

well, i guess you guyz are gonna have to mark me up as a tom-boy, lol. i grew up interrested in cars, and can rebuild an engine too mind you. also i love riding motorcycles, dirt bikes are ma fave.
i'm working on finding some other girls to come on in here and post some stuff too. problem is they're intimidated by all the "super smart techie guys", lol, in here. if only you guys could lighten up on the competiveness maybe that would help. also, us girls are smart, we don't need you to tell us everything. maybe the girls would find it more interresting if you only peequed their interrest, rather than try to teach them everything. be patient.
i dunno. i know one thing for sure. being as strong headed as i am that if i was in a situation where some guy started trying to tell me how things worked, instead of letting me explore my new found interrest that maybe that guy i might know got me interrested in, i'd be turned off to the whole idea. maybe that's just me.

Hey, I think I've lightened up...a LOT! I encourage women to be in here and post about all the topics. I know I certainly am not one of the "super smart techie guys" you refer to...you of all people should know that.
Anyways, yes, I hate being here in the forums where the composition is 99% male and 1% female...I think that this all stems from the public school system and how it encourages males to take technical classes and discourages women from taking them. Not 1 female was in metal and wood shop class when I was in high school! Maybe we all need to be more diverse, I dunno. But we do need more "techie" women around here...that's for sure.

Really? None of the girls took Shop class? We were forced to take both for two years in Junior High, and then got to choose which one we wanted in the third. Then came the joys of high school.
One of my friends got taunted miserably for taking Shop class in her last year of H.S. ...say the girl's got guts to stick it thru the whole year :thumb, and it's a whole lot more interesting than Typing (yuk). I took Phys. Ed. for my extra credits. Floor hockey and soccer, anyone ;)?

Well, if 3dgameman.com were to form an alliance with any of the female gamer websites (eg www.ladygamers.com) or all-female game clan sites (eg www.girlzclan.com) then the female count in the poll will surely be much higher. (eg www.grrlgamer.com used to be in cahoots with the IGN network back in the mid 90's earning them a lot of hits, though back in those days the boys from www.pcxl.com [also back then an ally of IGN] were rather rude and rowdy towards the girls of gg and were constantly harrassing them with hate mail and spam posts)

Lol, I don't know for sure if it's the same in english but here that one's called a Prince albert... kinda funny since we now have a King Albert, who used to be a prince once tho... so you can say about us: The whole Belgian population used to have a prince Albert, but they upgraded to a King (damn, that's gotta hurt :hail )
