3GM PM's: everyone uses them, but does it always work???

:wavey hey everyone,

i've been having a lot of issues with my Private Messaging system here at 3GM. i've contacted Rodney about this and he asked if i would start a thread about the issues i am having to see if anyone else is having problems too.

the issue: when i first started using the forums here i recieved and sent PM's just fine. being my usual self, i kept all the PM's i got. yes, i'm a pack rat! lol then when i had around 10 or so PM's in my inbox i started receiving emails stating that my inbox was FULL. :Holy Crap i wasn't aware that there was a quota on either the number of PM's you have in the inbox or the total data size amount, i dunno which.

so anyways, i just deleted a bunch of them, all but two i wanted to keep. so i happily received new PM's from people. but now i've only but 4 PM's in my inbox and i'm receiving the "inbox is full" emails again. now wait a minute here. *scratches head* what is going on? this is whats really weird. i now cannot receive ANY PM's except from Rodney? only having 4 PM's in my inbox i can not receive any PM's? i contacted Rodney and he has sent me 2 PM's and they both got through fine. i also got PM's before AND after Rodney sent his to me and they were denied and i recieved the "inbox is full" emails. i dunno what's going on now. i've also tried making a "store" folder in my Private Message control panel and moved the 4 PM's out of my inbox and placed them in the "store" folder i made. this has made NO difference. i still cannot receive PM's from anyone but Rodney with having only 4 PM's in my inbox.

i've not tried deleting these 4 PM's to see if that would change things any. but i don't want to delete my PM's. i have some in there that i may decide to reply to yet again.

ANY one else having ANY issues with their PM's? reply now, Rodney will be watching this thread.

I've not run into anything like this so far. I only have 60 PM's in my box.

Do you think there is a problem with the Email Notifications? I swear it sends me a copy to my PM and not my E-mail.

NM.. I was thinking of Subscribed Forums. Do you think this would effect the PM space?

This is an easy answer. Gosh, the solution is so simple I can't believe nobody can see it! Rod has a thing for thegeekmistress and he's protecting his "new inverstment" by blocking all PMs except for his, therefore ensuring his property is safe. Rod, are you :bounce ?

Just kidding, don't ban me for that. It's all in good fun.

but seriously, I don't think this happens to me because nobody cares to PM me in the first place...

its working for me except it used to notify me when i got a new msg and now it doesnt ..

I haven't had any trouble receiving PM's before but of course
I've only received 4 PM's about the 9700 so I can not tell if it
is working for me or not at the moment I never receive any PM's

must be a corrupted database or you just broke it with all your msg's ..

not sure on VBB but may have to delete your profile and re-enter it .. number of posts i believe can be set .

Yeah I tried to Pm you today and got the msg that your
inbox was full very weird why it won't let you receive any
msg's have you changed any of the settings or any thing
like that wish I could think of something to tell you that
would fix it for you. Thanks for sending me the Pm so I
could see if mine was working it came right through maybe
somebody will come up with the fix for it let's hope so any

Also Steph you should check your sent messages folder. There is an option to select folders. Select "Sent messages" and delete those also.

You might want to Uncheck the box that says "Save a Copy" when you send a PM. This will save some space in your account.

All accounts have a max limit set up so that the server does not get full with just messages. If Rodney wants to change just her account and set it to no limit, this might fix the problem?

W:eek:W!! is this true Rodney? do all the folders count for a "set limit"? i have PM's in my sent folder. but i wanted to keep those. :(

Actually, TGM help me figure this out. Apparently, our personal message limitation is affected by all messages in both our PM inbox and sent items folders. Just had an exchange with Rodney, and as a result he increased the PM's to 200 (from 100) and charaters per message to 3000 (from 2000).
