Actually, neither my navel or tongue hurt that much, when I got them done, I had my tongue done, over 2 years ago, and my navel about 4 years. I got my tongue done, and within an hr went to a club with a bunch of friends, one of my friends got her eyebrow pierced. At the club they were having a Cinco de Mayo celebration and a mexican buffet :D I l:heartbeatve Mexican food, and though I was told not to eat any solid food for a week, I ate sold food that night, though it took forever (its almost like you have to re-learn eating :eek: ) Later that night my tongue was hurting BAD :Holy Crap

Anyways, here I will post a small pic, sorry its soo small...(taken with my webcam) of my tongue "mod" ;)

I've never tried real Mexican food, the closest so far has been Taco Bell :D. We must have take-out Mexican food in my area somewhere...

Ahh geez Sherry, you need some real Mexican food :) I was once a slave to Taco Bell myself, but that ended when I met my girlfriend. Most of her family is Mexican and they make some kickass tacos, enchiladas, burritos, everything! Where I live you get a blend of everything, great Italian, Mexican, and Chinese food. Jersey is quite a melting pot... LOL

I'm curious, what types of food are popular in Canada?

They are all over the place down here. Almost every street corner has a Mexican restaurant. If I could send you and Rodney some fresh, I would.

There is a great place to eat right down the street called, La Haciendia Ranch...this conversation is making me want it right now.

There's so much to choose from here, but not much Mexican :(.

We've got all the major Junk Food chains which don't turn my crank as much as heading for the different cultural areas of town.

We've got your North Americanized (aka fake, lol) Chinese food.

Then there's the REAL Chinese Food (thank you, Spadina ;)).

Thai (yum!), Philipino, Malasian, Italian, Portugese, Polish, West Indian (Jamaican that is), East Indian (gimmie curry and biriyani!), Japanese...I could go on and on with the selections.

But Mexican there's not a lot of to try...

Both "mods" look very painful :eek:. Getting ears pierced is far enough for me.

anyways, i've had a "lip mod" for years now and shoshi's right, they don't hurt at all to get done. the part that hurts is the healing of the peircing. it's simular to ear piercings when healing except it's usually in a much more sensative spot. like when i got my lip pirced every time i ate it would get infected. it took about 3~4months for that to stop hurting. i used to have to wash it with anti-bacterial soap after every meal. W:Holy CrapW did that sting.

Actually I think the tongue and lip are concidered "ORAL" piercings :p

On a more serious note, I have my piercings for one simple reason, I LIKE THEM :D In fact hopefully soon I am gonna get a Labret piercing :KICKASS

If so, you can hide those pretty affectively (when you need too or feel like it) by rotating the little barbells up into the nose. Not a bad choice, actually...it hangs down when you want it to show!

I see so many piercings it seems the norm now. But punch-out piercings that freak me out the most...and the ear lobes and nostrils stretched with bamboo :eek:!

But in saying that, I saw a girl on the subway today with a punchout...a barbell threaded thru the top of her ear...twice! One ball at the upper back of the ear...the barbell running thru the tip to the front...and then the other ball facing the front of the ear. It looked neat, although the holes were HUGE! Looked to be about 1/4 inch in diameter...that's a pretty big hole.

but anyways, a Labret is a piercing that goes through the bottom most part of your lip. you know where my lip piercing was right. well a Labret is just a bit father down your face. the back is still in your mouth but it diesn't go through your lip. it's near the bottom most part of your bottom teeth.

I had my tongue pierced for about a year or so, until I noticed that it was indeed making my bottom teeth move. I also noticed I had to be a lot more meticulous with my oral hygiene. I was a piercing fanatic for quite a while (tongue, bellybutton, two in left ear, one in right ear, one in upper left ear), but I have since moved on to tattoos. I have 4 now, and soon want to go and get another one. I don't know how some people's bellybutton piercings don't hurt, mine sure did. It wasn't the needle that caused the pain, it was when the guy went and put the ring in. OUCH!!!! :)

Ah thanks for explaining that to me, Shoshi and Steph :). Is there a special name for a nose ring too? I know you can put them thru one side of the nose (like a little diamond stud or something), and then there's the one thru the middle...

There are just so many places to pierce, i don't think anyone

Yeah I thought thats what you were describing for the ear piercing, Its called an "Industrial" (http://www.tribalectic.com/Gallery/eight1(1).JPG) but the small hoop piercing is called a "Tragus" (http://www.tribalectic.com/Gallery/Picture%20626.jpg) I have been concidering more ear piercings for me, so far I have just single lobe piercings and my upper right cartalage is done too. The Tragus or the "Rook" (http://www.tribalectic.com/Gallery/rookpic1.JPG) may be my next ear piercing :)

For the Nose, there are also different names, the one through the side strange enough is called a "Nostril" piercing :p , "Septum" is through the bottom center of the nose and a "Bridge" (http://www.tribalectic.com/Gallery/jizz%20005.jpg) is through the top part of the nose.

most this stuff doesn't hurt much. just the healing process is a little uncomfortable, but it's the same as getting your hand cut or scraped working on a car and then getting grease, dirt, and oil in the cut and having it get infected. :Wink
