l33t speak takes its derivative from the word l33t, which is a short form of the word "elite". If you see the movie hackers, they refer to their hacking skillz as elite. "l33t" evolved from that.

So if I say that your system is l33t, it means I like it and it looks like it kicks ass.

You can get real complex in l33tsp33k, such as i o\/\//\/3dj00, which translates to "I owned you"...commonly spoken in online games after a kill, such as unreal tournament and quake 3...\

hope that clears up what l33tsp33k is a littl3

h3h3...n00b!

A language developed by cyberfreaks used in chat rooms and forums. The language basically is a phoneticac substitution code. It is organic and has establisted different dialects, thus 133t might also be written 133+ or 1337.

Rules of 133t: These are simple, yet complex, but with a free-form element.

- replace as many characters as you can
- interpret the phonetic pronunciation (K - C or F - Ph)
- capitalisation of unchanged letters is at the writers discretion
- work in symbols wherever possible, @ as in hat H@ and # as in crash Cr# or backslash 84ck51#

Oh and one last thing, every thing in 133t is in the present tense. You never did anything or are going to do anything in the future, you're always doing it now!

31337 or, if you prefer, 3133+ or even 133+ are born straight out of 133t and again represent these different dialects. The word is pronounced elite and is used to describe one profecient in the use of 133t. Lets look at the word phat, a very commonly used word which generally means 'excellent' though others would say is a metasyntatic variable. We might write that as pH4+ or pH@ or P|-|47. pH34r which of course translates as fear is started with a pH as the f in fear is followed by a vowel, obviously... so pHoo7 or pH00+ for foot.

Are you ready? Well, here goes...

That's right (and it's not only myself) and the reason is; hardly anyone knows what others who talk l33t are saying. Knowing what other's are talking about makes life a bit easier for everyone :thumb

Yes, I completely agree... All this l33t talk is getting old. We should leave this 'cutting edge' trend to the kids and speak like normal human beings... Not computers!!! LOL

This language won't get you anywhere in the real world. Try learning something challenging like C++ or Java...
