Do you drive a full size or S-10 Blazer and what year? I drive an 80' Full Size 4x4, painting it flat black right now. I'm also going to lift it when I get more money. You might want to check out ColoradoK5.com

Oh ya! It's a 2001 2 door Chevy Blazer ZR-2 sport package model, black with grey interior. Moon roof, cruise control, cd changer and Bose sound system. The sport package includes a special suspension, and as you can see from the wheel wells, it's jacked up quite a few more inches than the normal blazer :D.

Has it been good to you? I'm thinking of getting a newer (98+) Blazer because mine takes too much gas! About 10 mpg, 8 if i'm driving it hard, which is most of the time.
Here's a pic, http://home.attbi.com/~anatomiczero/jimmy2.JPG Ofcourse the garbage for the dumps is out and the steps have been removed.

Got to love those old Chevy's. I'm driving an 86 Suburban right now and love it. I had plans to fix it up and deck it out but the gas milage has changed my mind. I only get 10 - 11 mpg on average and, just like you, if I have to step on it that number drops drastically.
Still, I have a thing, for that nice 350 under the hood. :KICK ASS

Actually, I'm not completely sure but I think I heard once that the difference between a sun roof and a moon roof is that a sun roof is a pane of glass that can only open outwards and only open slightly, not completely. Although some sun roofs will allow the glass to be detached and taken out, but it needs to be stored some where (like your trunk).
But a moon roof has a pane of glass that will slide back into the roof of the car and can be completely opened without having to remove the glass.

Sun roofs refer to a manual roof panel that slides up and out of the way. Where Moon roofs are generally electronic and have a variety of control options.

Cool truck, however, Bigger doesn't necessarily mean better. With a longer wheel base, unless you have the height to compensate and the width to keep it stable, you can get stuck when the terrain levels off sharply.

True, true. I mostly go mudding with my truck, no risk of high centering unless I bury it up to the axles. I'd put a lift on my truck but lifted trucks can't pull goosenecks or 5th wheels. Which is why I kinda miss my Explorer, put a 4" lift kit on it and some big tires and it'll go just about anywhere.

Parking is a dream. Our Blazer is easier to park than any car I've ever owned or driven.
The only downside is the large extra tire that shields up the back window. I use all my mirrors like crazy to compensate, and diligently check over my shoulder to make sure no one's in my blind spot.

THe Gen III LS1/LS6 5.7L is I think one of the best engines to come out of Detroit since the original small block back in 1955. My Z28 has this engine. It begs to be driven.... :D
GM is using the Holden Monaro chassis for the GTO, then redesigning its own chassis/platform for 2005. THe GTO will get a new design as well, more "American" looks I presume. Also a 5.3L Gen III LS2 engine is a possibity as well. Power level should still be around the target 350hp.
IN case you are wondering the Corvettte for the new C6 design car in 2005 I think will get a 6.0L Gen III engine.
In the meantime, this new chassis/platform GM is building is not only going to used for the GTO. GM is taking a Holden idea where many cars are built off the same chassis design and built in the same assembly plant. This means the new chassis GM plans on using will go under several different cars with completely different looks, but share the a similar chassis. This saves assembly/design costs.
Idea floating around is a new Camaro based on this new chassis. THe Camaro has been in R&D since its demise with studies on what people want first. The new Camaro could debut in 2007, just in time for its 40th birthday. Rumors say a potent V6 ~250hp, a 5.3L LS2 engine for a Z28 model and either a more refined 5.3L or a 'detuned' 6.0L from the Corvette for a SS model. Again these are just speculations. There could be a Chevelle built instead of the Camaro but internally GM wants the Camaro name first.
Also GM would use this new chassis for cars in the Buick/Pontiac/Cadilliac programs as well, which would satisfy the demand for rear wheel drive cars. If they build em affordibly people will buy.

Ive got a blazer almost identical to that one.....body is same color and looks just like that. ( I have nerf bars though)
although its 96 and has different headlights. (ie not zr-2)
zr-2 package is really nothing more than a slight lift with fender flares and a few minor things.
im going to lift mine and add the flares so essentially itll look the same.

But America and Canada are full of wide open spaces. :D
Our traffic lanes are 12' (3.6m ~) wide or wider and our parking spaces in parking lots are wide enough to accommodate even our largest cars and still have room to open the door (most of the time unless the bone head parked next to you doesn’t know how to park).
As for me, I've always own big cars, with the exception of my first car which was an '82 Chevy Chevette (hey I was 16 and it was cheap :p). And all of my cars (except the first) all had American V8 engines. My current car is an '79 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a 350cid Oldsmobile V8. Eating gas is bad in some cases... like I couldn't afford the gas for an Impreza WRX STi with its 300BHp Turbocharged 4 cylindar. Gets 18MPG city.

LOL! 18mpg would be good compared to my car. I haven't figured it out lately but if I had to guess, my car would probably get 10-12mpg. :p
You see, it has a Holley 650cfm 4 barrel carburetor, Edelbrock "Performer" aluminum intake manifold, Edelbrock "Performer Plus" cam shaft (I forget the specs on the cam but it's matched to the intake), Hooker headers w/ dual exhaust, 9.5:1 compression, etc..... Let's just say that my car is good at burning two things... gas and tires. :p

Hmm... "Clear PCBs"... the problem with that is, most motherboards are either 4, 6 or 8 layers and each layer has its own traces. The traces you see on the top and bottom of the motherboard (or what ever PCB you may be looking at) are only two of the layers. So if you made the PCB clear, it would probably look like a "rats nest" of traces and you probably wouldn't be able to see through it very well (if at all).
"Wireless SCSI"... with today’s technology, no radio transmitter or receiver on the planet can send or receive data as fast as SCSI. It wouldn't even be close. Of course that's with today's technology... who knows about tomorrow.
"Wireless scanner"... a "Bluetooth" scanner might be possible... they might be working on one right now. As well as a bluetooth printer.
"Spiral hollow Core Radiator"... I've had a similar idea, but it seems like it would be too bulky.
"Tri-Channel memory" Didn't someone already come out with a prototype Quad channel memory setup? Don't high end video cards have a (kind-of-round-about) quad channel memory setup? (Ya know, four 64bit channels which equals the 256bit memory interface.)

First off... with the car (to stay sorta on topic) ummm... I have no idea what you are talking about. =D
the PCB would still be neat tho.
the SCSI would be great... no more wires, eh?
They already have wireless printers... why not a wireless scanner. I hate the USB cord.
The radiator is great. I have a nice design too.
Tri channel memory because it would make more money right now to replace dual channel. P4's would benefit. AMD's would have no change. What we need is DDR2 in a Quad Data Rate setup to match the P4 in a Quad channel setup. Imagine the bandwidth.

Well as for the car companies, all the way up to the late '70's, all of the major GM brands (Chevy, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and Cadillac) had their own engine designs. And each one of those brands also had their own version of a small block and big block engine. But towards the late '70's and early '80's GM was trying to save money in production costs and each brand having their own engine design was getting to expensive. So GM converted most of the brands over to the Chevy designed engines. The only GM brand that didn't do a complete switch was Cadillac. Although some of the lower end Cadillac’s did share some engine designs with other GM brands, most of the higher end Cadillac’s had their own, unique engine design (for example, the Cadillac Northstar engine).
As for my car, if I look up the VIN it says that my car came from the factory with a 6 cylinder diesel engine. But some time before I bought it, someone transplanted a small block Oldsmobile 350cid V8 engine in it. I have since rebuilt that engine into what it is today.
As for the other brands I mentioned...
Holley (http://www.holley.com) makes carburetors. They are the brand of choice for carburetors when you're talking about American muscle cars. Although in recent years, most of Holley's patents have run out so there are a lot of copy-cat companies popping up (like Demon Carbs (http://www.barrygrant.com/)). Holley also makes bolt-on high performance fuel injection systems, ignition systems, intake manifolds, superchargers, cylinder heads, etc...
Edelbrock (http://www.edelbrock.com/)makes just about anything you want for an engine (but not everything). They make intake manifolds, carburetors, cylinder heads, cam shafts, fuel injection systems and the list goes on and on. But they are most famous for their aluminum intake manifolds.
Hooker Headers (http://www.holley.com/hookerheaders/index.html) makes exhaust systems for just about anything out there. Nuff said. (By the way, they are a division of Holley.)

Sounds liek you got a nice car there das! :thumb Good to see an Olds motor stil being hoped up with go fast goodies. Many people opt for the classic chevy 350.
I drive a 00 Z28 which I've put a set of headers on. Long tube SLP ones. Sounds awsome.. quiet idle but sounds like an old classic at 5000rpm.... Its soo much more complicated than the old cars. All that computer stuff. :p I love it tho. The tuneability of the engine is great. I plan on the air intake, cat-back, then convert to a 2001 LS6 intake, then maybe a cam swap and that should put me with 400hp at the rear wheels.. :D
As for the consolidation back in the 80's and now.. Every GM vehicle has a chevy engine now excpet the Cadilliac thats the Northstar engine.
You know what. I'd like to see GM shoehorn the new Vortec 8.1L big-block into car. I'd call it a Chevelle for old times sake...:spin

Thanks but I wouldn't say my car is nice (yet). It's still a work in progress and it still has a few problems. I also took a four year break from it (in other words, I put it in storage for 4 years and it did nothing but sit). I just got it out of storage and started working on it again a few weeks ago. But listen to this...
When I put it in storage, I did it because I had too. You see I was having personal problems 4 years ago and I couldn't do anything with it. So it just sat there in my yard until the city authorities came along and put a junk ticket on its windshield. In other words, they were telling me to make it drivable (which it was) and make it legal (which it wasn't) or they will come and impound it. So because I was having personal problems, I just leased some outdoor space at a self storage place and put it there. I didn't do anything to it to prepare it for storage, I just drpped it off and left. So there it sat for 4 years out in the elements doing nothing. In fact in those 4 years, I never even went out to see it. The last time I saw it was the day I dropped it off. So 4 years later, I decided I wanted it back and I wanted to start working on it again so I got tags and insurance for it. But because it had sat for 4 years and had never even been turned over in that time (let alone started) I thought it was gonna take some work to get it running again just to get it home. But I thought I would give it a try to see what would happen. So I bought a new battery for it, changed the oil & antifreeze (luckily I had 5 year antifreeze in it when it went in storage) and put fresh gas in it. To my utter amazement the damn thing started up on the first try!:Holy Crap I was totally shocked that after 4 years the thing started the first try! But it didn't completely start because it did start and then stall a few times until the fresh gas got to the carburetor but it still started the first time I turned it over (for about 5 seconds and then it stalled). After a few tries of starting and stalling, the fresh gas got pumped into the carb and the damn thing sat there purring like a kitten! Like I said, I was shocked!
But it still has problems else where. During storage, the back bumper rusted out (and needs replacing), a rust hole formed in the rear quarter panel behind the rear wheel and two new rust holes started on the side next to the windows (on each side). Oh and the interior smelled like mildew and I had to pick out mice nests out from under the hood (on and in the vent ducts... gross :Sigh).
As for "hopping up" an Olds motor, well I never did like it when people would take a car and throw a different brand of motor in it. For example, I don't like it when people build one of those 30's Ford roadsters and put a Chevy motor in it. The way I see it, if it's a Ford then a Ford motor belongs in it, if it's a Chevy then a Chevy motor belongs in it and if it's an Oldsmobile then an Oldsmobile motor belongs in it!
By the way, it sounds like you have a really nice car too. I've always been a fan of Camero's. I especially like the early to mid '90's versions (ya know with the LT1 engines). I like those over the later models because I like the recessed dual front head lights. They seem to look more sinister to me. :p

Wow. Ya know after 4 years I'd figure it might have seized up just setting there, esp out in the elements. I also dont like it when people change engine brands on a car. Esp if its something valuable. I have friend whos got an all steel 37 Ford coupe with a 383 chevy and a tri-power setup (3 2 barrel carbs) thats real nice. I was there when he painted the thing. And it sounds awesome too.
I wouldnt mind having a LT1 powered Camaro (93-97). Just to really hop up with as much power as I can afford to put in it. Something to "play with" lol. That way I dont go overboard with my 00' Z28. Ya I'm a car nut....:smokin
But then again if someone would offer me a 2002 35th Anniversary SS car for a decent price I'd first drool like a mad man.... then go find some money and some how buy it lol :bounce

Yeah, I figured it would be seized too or at least have a few other problems. But I swear, the thing started right up and once it moaned and groaned a little, the damn thing ran just like it did the day I put it in there.
The only reason(s) I can think of as to why I didn't have many problems is because when I put it in there it was in great running order. It had 5 year antifreeze in it, Mobile 1 synthetic oil in it and most of the ignition system was brand new (including an MSD 6AL controller and an Accel HEI Super Coil).

Not quite. The Camaro Z28's and SS's are holding in value simply because they are not being made anymore. Hell my 2000 Z28 cost me $19,000. But it had 28K miles on it and in perfect shape. The SS cars where special ordered (you had to get a Z28 then they where shipped to SLP for the GM optioned SS conversion)and will hold their value for a long time right now. Vettes are a dime a dozen. Z06 and esp the 50th Anniversary Vettes will hold value much better.

My big ass car gets me 35mpg highway and 22 city. Which is a lot better than the truck i had before.
Now let's see foreign cars...
Nissan Altima, 21city/26highway
Nissan Maxima 20/26mpg
Toyota Celica (1.8L) 27/33mpg
Toyota Echo 33/39 (no power)
Mitsubishi Eclipse 21/28
VW Jetta (gas) 21/31
VW beetle 24/31
American cars
Dodge neon 29/36
chrysler intrepid 22/34
Chev cavalier 26/33
chec corvette 5.7L 19/28
Ford mustang 4.6L 18/26
Pontiac Grand Prix GT 22/35
Don't you see only american cars that have HUGE engines compared to foreing cars are just a few mpg harder on gas. Yeah gas gobblers alright! And most foreing cars have tiny engine no bigger than 2.5L (nissan has a few 3.5 and are hard on gas compared to save size engine from american cars) but still you think American cars are hard on gas? common!

hi guys/gals. i'm a tech at a gm shop, worked on em all, including many blazers like sherry's. but have any of you driven a late 90's cadillac deville? ya the bbiigggg one? used to have 325 hp from a 4.6 litre. detuned it recently. those will haul 5 adults, 5 sets of golf clubs and still make the mustang gt owners, like my daughter, wonder how that big old boat can stay so close to em...lol. no kidding. i just got an old ford f-150 short bed, 190,000 miles, dropped in a 460 w offenhauser intake, 750 holley, stainless fenderwell exit headers. it'l pass most things on the highway cept a gas station. oya, got a detroit locker rear end also, it goes where i point it.

After having driven a Blazer recently for a fair distance (about 100 miles)...I really must say, they aren't bad vehicles...fairly comfortable, though I much prefer the Nissan Pathfinder my mom has over it...I don't know, it just seems to have a better overall ride and comfort as opposed to the Blazer. Not dissing Blazers here, as I said, they really aren't bad, just like the Pathfinder more.
