WRT54G with PS3
My WRT54G came today and got it all set up but I'm having trouble hooking it up with the PS3 wireless. I basically can't figure out what to leave alone and what to type in the PS3. When I do a connection Test....I always get IP Address Failed. Which IP address do I type in?
Any ideas/suggestions? |

Re: WRT54G with PS3
I have done everything the same as that person and still get Failed on Obtain IP Address.
But I just looked at my Network settings on the PS3 and it says NAT Type - (Blank) ?? |

Re: WRT54G with PS3
Your router is supposed to assign the IP address and the NAT Type wouldn't get filled in until you got an IP address. I'm thinking maybe your secure authentication method or password is holding you back. How about testing it with a wired connection to make sure the PS3 basic networking isn't fubar?

Re: WRT54G with PS3
It is probably somewhere in the security protocol handshaking. Your router is probably doesn't think the PS3 is an authorized device. Try checking your router logs to see. Or maybe changing the wep key? or authentication method.

Re: WRT54G with PS3
That might be the issue. When the internet test fails it says on the bottom "The Key information exchange timed out."

Re: WRT54G with PS3
So I need to change my WPA encryption key? I have no idea how to do that
EDIT: I found out how to change that....but how is this code going to change everything? And can I change it to anything? Last edited by Lesser; 08-14-2008 at 11:33 PM.. |

Re: WRT54G with PS3
Well, for one... any wireless device that used the old key will need to update it to the new one. And as far as I know it could be changed to anything, though your router may have specific guidelines that you'll need to follow. (e.g., # of characters, upper and lower case, special characters).

Re: WRT54G with PS3
Oh I see. So when I type in the new pass in the PS3 now should I do automatic IP addresses or manual? And if I did manual would I be doing my computers IP or my routers IP?

Neither one, no two devices on the network can have the same IP address. This is asking for a unique IP address for the Playstation and must be valid for your local area network's subnet.
